𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘤 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺𝘪𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘴 (𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯). 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥, 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥-𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔 7-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

This patient was presented to our clinic with a severe case of myiasis (maggot infestation), with numerous larvae and significant tissue damage.

Treatment involved thorough removal of the maggots, wound cleaning and management, appropriate antiparasitic treatment, and allowing the wound to heal by second intention rather than closing a heavily contaminated wound.

The wound is now significantly cleaner, with healthy granulation tissue developing and overall improvement in the surrounding tissues.

The patient is still continuing prescribed medications and wound care.

𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: Myiasis can progress rapidly, especially in wounds that are left untreated. If you notice a wound, foul odor, discharge, or anything unusual on your pet’s skin, please have it checked by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Early intervention can make a huge difference. 🐾

But jokes aside, please don’t ignore vomiting in your pets. One episode may sometimes be nothing serious, but repeated vomiting or vomiting with other signs like lethargy and loss of appetite needs attention.

Monitor your pets, and when in doubt, have them checked by your veterinarian. ☺️🩺

Blood chemistry is especially helpful in detecting and monitoring conditions involving the kidneys, liver, pancreas, endocrine system, and other internal organs. It also gives us valuable information when assessing patients before surgery, monitoring ongoing treatment, or evaluating pets who aren’t feeling their best.

With these upgrades, we can perform more diagnostic tests in-house, which means less waiting, fewer referrals, and faster information to help us make appropriate treatment decisions for your pets. ❤️

It may seem like a small step to some, but for us, this is a big milestone. We are genuinely happy and proud that we are able to continuously improve our facilities and, most importantly, serve our clients and their beloved pets better.
