AN UNDISPUTED CLASSIC

The DD Blue (Mauve) Opaline Fischeri is a rare and striking Fischer's lovebird color mutation. Its unique look is created by combining three specific genetic traits:

✅ Blue Base: Removes all warm pigments, turning the body blue and changing the normally bright orange face to a clean white mask.
✅ Double Dark Factor (DD): Deepens that blue base into a rich, dark slate-gray or charcoal color (often called "Mauve").
✅ Opaline: Alters the pattern so that the clean white mask extends further down the neck, while ensuring the lower back and rump match the solid charcoal body rather than showing a bright blue patch.

The final look: A moody, beautiful bird with a deep charcoal body, a stark white face, a horn-colored beak, and the classic white rings around its eyes.

The LUTINO OPALINE mutation is one of the most famous, highly sought-after, and striking combinations in the aviculture world. Its fame comes down to a perfect genetic storm: extreme visual beauty, unique physical transformations, and the fascinating genetics behind breeding them.

Here is exactly why this specific combination is a superstar mutation among lovebird enthusiasts.

1. The "Red Hood" Visual Impact

✅ Lutino (Ino Mutation): This strips away all the eumelanin (dark/black pigment) from the bird. A normal green lovebird becomes solid, vibrant yellow with bright red eyes and a peach/red face.

✅ Opaline Mutation: This alters the distribution of pigments. It extends the facial mask color all the way over the back of the head (the occiput) and down the neck, while simultaneously turning the dark green tail feathers into a solid bright red or orange.

When you combine them into the Lutino Opaline, the Opaline mutation forces the red/orange facial pigment to spread completely over the head like a vivid crimson hood. BLUE DILUTE PALE FALLOW OPALINE

This elegant bird is a byproduct of mixing 4 different mutations into one bird.

✅ Blue (Color) Mutation: It completely eliminates yellow pigment (psittacin) across the entire body, turning a normal green lovebird into a blue bird.

✅ Dilute Mutation: This is a recessive mutation affecting melanin. It reduces the dark melanin pigment in the feathers by about 80% to 90%, giving the bird a washed-out, pastel appearance.

✅ Pale Fallow Mutation: This is an autosomal recessive mutation which also drastically reduces melanin production, resulting in a light body color, lighter flight feathers, and distinct ruby-red eyes.

✅ Opaline Mutation: This is a sex-linked recessive mutation. It alters the distribution of pigment, extending the head mask color down the back of the neck and into the mantle, while turning the tail feathers mostly red/pink (or white/orange in the blue series).

By combining all the traits and characteristics of the mutations, we produce a bird that is so light in color, it almost resembles an Albino.
