World Rabies Day 2026 | City of Carcar

The City of Carcar proudly celebrated World Rabies Day 2026 with the theme Stronger Together, through a series of activities dedicated to protecting our communities and promoting responsible pet ownership.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the massive rabies vaccination campaign conducted across all barangays of the city, bringing essential rabies prevention services closer to our people and their beloved pets.

The City Veterinary Office also provided vitamin supplementation, deworming, veterinary consultations, and spay and neuter services, all aimed at promoting healthier animals, responsible pet ownership, and a safer, rabies-free community.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Hon. Mayor Patrick Paras Barcenas Hon. Vice Mayor Perkins Barcenas De Dios and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod for their continued support and commitment to our animal health and rabies prevention programs.

To all our partners, barangay officials, veterinary personnel, volunteers, pet owners, organizations, and everyone who helped us directly or indirectly, thank you for being part of this meaningful endeavor. Your cooperation, support, and dedication made this celebration a success.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR TOMORROW'S SPAY AND NEUTER!!!

Please take note that this is a "FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE" basis and cut off time will be at 12:00 noon. Venue will be at Poblacion III Covered Court.

𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿:

Eligible pets: Aspin and Puspin only. Purebred pets will not be accommodated.
Female pets: 8 months to 5 years old
Male pets: 6 months to 5 years old
Vaccination: Pets must have completed their anti-rabies vaccination.
Health condition: Pets must not be pregnant, nursing, or in heat.
Pet limit: One pet per owner.
Fasting: Pets must not be given food or water for 8 hours before surgery.

Celebrating World Rabies Day 2026 at the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 7!

Today, we join hands in celebrating World Rabies Day with the theme, “Stronger Together,” highlighting the importance of unity, collaboration, and collective action in our continuing fight against rabies.

Among the meaningful activities conducted was the distribution of spay and neuter instrument sets to support the Spay and Neuter Programs of Local Government Units (LGUs). This initiative is a significant step toward strengthening responsible pet ownership, promoting animal welfare, controlling the stray animal population, and advancing our shared goal of a rabies-free community.

The City of Carcar is truly grateful to the Department of Agriculture – RFO 7 for including our city as one of the recipients of these valuable instruments. This support will greatly contribute to the continued implementation of our local spay and neuter activities and our commitment to protecting both animal and public health.

Our heartfelt appreciation to DA-RFO 7 for its unwavering partnership and support to the LGUs.

ADVISORYO BATOK SA AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (ASF)

Ang Kagamhanang Dakbayan sa Carcar nagpahibalo sa publiko nga adunay mga natala nga kaso sa African Swine Fever (ASF) sa pipila ka mga siyudad ug lungsod, lakip na sa mga kasikbit nga probinsya.

Tungod niini nga kahimtang, giawhag ang tanang magbabaligya ug magpapatigayon og buhing baboy nga magmatngon ug mag-amping sa pagpangita ug pagkuha sa mga baboy aron malikayan ang dugang nga pagkaylap sa ASF ug maminusan ang posibleng epekto niini sa ekonomiya sa atong dakbayan.

Ang Carcar City Slaughterhouse gipahibalo na nga DILI motugot sa pagsulod ug pag-ihaw sa mga baboy nga gikan sa mga lungsod o munisipalidad nga giila nga ASF-positive, subay sa nagpatuman nga mga regulasyon sa kahimsog sa hayop ug mga lagda sa quarantine.

Giawhag usab ang mga konsumidor sa mosunod:

* Pagpalit lamang og karne sa baboy ug mga produkto niini gikan sa kasaligan ug awtorisadong mga tinubdan.

* Likayi ang pagdala og karne sa baboy ug mga produkto niini gikan sa ubang lungsod o munisipalidad padulong sa Dakbayan sa Carcar, ilabi na gikan sa mga lugar nga apektado sa ASF.

Gipasiugda sa Kagamhanang Dakbayan sa Carcar nga kining advisoryo dili aron magpahinabo og kahadlok o kalisang sa publiko.

Ang African Swine Fever (ASF) usa ka sakit nga makaapekto sa mga binuhing baboy ug ihalas nga baboy, bisan unsa pa ang ilang lahi o breed. Dili kini zoonotic disease ug dili makatakod sa mga tawo. Bisan pa niini, ang ASF mahimong adunay dakong epekto sa ekonomiya sa industriya sa pagbuhi og baboy tungod kay kini mahimong hinungdan sa grabeng pagkasakit ug pagkamatay sa mga baboy nga matakdan niini.

Giawhag ang tanan nga magpadayon sa pagkamabinantayon, mosunod sa mga regulasyon sa beterinaryo ug quarantine, ug makigtambayayong sa mga awtoridad aron mapugngan ang pagkaylap sa ASF.

Strengthening Veterinary Excellence Through Unity, Resilience, and Continuous Learning.

Dr. Mary Ann Gabona, City Veterinarian, and Dr. John Paul Alcuirez, Veterinarian III, of the City of Carcar, attended the 24th PVMA-CV Annual Scientific Conference and Convention, with the theme, “Stronger Together: Advancing Veterinary Excellence Through Unity and Resilience.”

The conference served as a valuable opportunity to enhance professional knowledge, gain insights into the latest development in veterinary medicine, and strengthen collaboration among veterinary professionals in advancing animal health, public health, animal welfare, and the veterinary profession.

Through active participation in this meaningful gathering, the Carcar City Veterinary Office reaffirms its commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and the delivery of quality veterinary services to the people of Carcar. The knowledge and experiences gained will further support the office's programs and initiatives in animal disease prevention and control, rabies elimination, livestock development, responsible pet ownership, and the promotion of One Health.

Indeed, by working together, sharing knowledge, and strengthening partnerships, we continue to build a more resilient veterinary community dedicated to protecting animal and human health and supporting the livelihood of our farmers and livestock raisers.

Heartfelt Gratitude to the Global Awareness and Rabies Alliance (GARC)!

The City Government of Carcar, through the City Veterinary Office, sincerely extends our heartfelt gratitude to the Global Awareness and Rabies Alliance (GARC) for recognizing Carcar City for our continuing contributions to the global efforts toward rabies elimination.

This recognition is truly an honor and a meaningful affirmation of the collective efforts of our City Veterinary Office, local government leaders Mayor Patrick Paras Barcenas, Vice Mayor Perkins Barcenas De Dios and the City Council, veterinary professionals, barangay officials, animal owners, volunteers, schools, community organizations, and all stakeholders who continue to work together in protecting both animals and people from rabies.

We are especially grateful for the opportunity to promote World Rabies Day 2026 as a meaningful platform to strengthen rabies awareness, responsible pet ownership, animal vaccination, bite prevention, and the importance of timely and appropriate action following animal exposures. More than a celebration, it is an opportunity to educate, engage, and empower our communities toward a safer and rabies-free future.

STRENGTHENING SWINE PRODUCTION IN CARCAR CITY!

The City Government of Carcar, under the leadership of Mayor Patrick Paras Barcenas , together with Vice Mayor Perkins Barcenas De Dios, SP Committee Chairman on Agriculture Hon. Roy Velez and all City Officials, continues to support our local hog raisers and farmers through initiatives that promote sustainable livelihood and strengthen the city’s agricultural sector.

As part of this commitment, the City Government facilitated the distribution of 100 heads of swine breeder stocks to different farmers’ associations and hog raisers in Carcar City. This initiative aims to provide quality breeder animals to our local farmers, help improve swine production, expand their livelihood opportunities, and contribute to a stronger and more sustainable local hog industry.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office VII (DA-7), Propork, and CEVIPPCO for their valuable support and generosity in making these 100 breeder stocks available for our Carcaranon farmers. Your partnership is a meaningful investment in the livelihood and future of our farming communities.

This initiative demonstrates what can be achieved through strong collaboration between the local government, national government agencies, private sector partners, farmers’ organizations, and our hardworking farmers.

To all the recipient farmers and associations, may these breeder stocks serve as a productive starting point toward greater opportunities, improved income, and a more resilient agricultural livelihood.
