🏥 RECOVERY ISN’T ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL.

When a pet is admitted to a veterinary hospital, many pet owners assume the hardest part is over.

But in reality, the most critical phase of recovery often begins after admission.

Hospitalization is more than giving medications or administering IV fluids. Every patient responds differently to treatment. Some improve quickly, while others require closer observation, additional supportive care, or immediate adjustments to their treatment plan.

At OptionVet, we believe that every confined patient deserves care based on their individual medical condition—not a fixed routine.

That’s why we continuously monitor our patients throughout their stay and adjust their care according to their progress.

🟢 Standard Monitoring

Patients that are stable and recovering well receive scheduled medications, routine nursing care, and regular reassessments to ensure they continue improving.

🟡 Enhanced Monitoring

Some patients need more than routine observation. These patients may require more frequent reassessments, IV therapy, pain management, nutritional support, or closer monitoring of their response to treatment.

🔴 Critical Care Monitoring

Critically ill or unstable patients require intensive nursing care, frequent evaluations, continuous monitoring of vital parameters when indicated, and rapid intervention whenever their condition changes.

Because recovery is dynamic, a patient’s monitoring level may change at any time.

A patient that is stable today may require closer monitoring later in the day, while a critically ill patient who improves may safely transition to a less intensive level of care.

That flexibility allows our veterinary team to provide the right care at the right time.

❤️ Our Commitment

Every patient admitted to our hospital receives:

✔ Individualized monitoring based on their medical needs

✔ Regular veterinary reassessments throughout confinement

✔ Medication and IV therapy management

✔ A clean and sanitized hospitalization area

✔ Compassionate nursing care

✔ Treatment plans that evolve according to the patient’s response—not simply because another day has passed

Many people think confinement simply means “staying at the clinic.”

For us, hospitalization is an active process of continuous assessment, observation, nursing care, and medical decision-making.

Our goal is not just to treat an illness, but to recognize changes early, respond appropriately, and support every patient through each stage of recovery.

Because every pet entrusted to our care is someone’s family.

And every patient deserves our full attention from admission until they are ready to go home.

🐾 Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all.

It’s personalized.

It’s closely monitored.

It’s guided by medical judgment.

It’s the standard of care we strive to provide every single day.

Veterinary care doesn’t start when you enter the consultation room.

Behind every appointment is a team preparing medications, sterilizing instruments, reviewing patient records, and making sure everything is ready for your pet’s visit.

This is what goes on behind the scenes at OptionVet—where every patient is cared for with compassion and attention to detail. 🐶🐱

🐾 THINGS VETS WISH EVERY PET OWNER KNEW

“As veterinarians, one of the most common things we hear is, ‘I wish I had known earlier.’ Unfortunately, many diseases don’t show obvious signs until they’re already advanced. That’s why preventive care is one of the most important things you can do for your pet.

Vaccinations don’t just protect your own pet—they help protect the entire pet community by reducing the spread of infectious diseases.

Even if your pet stays indoors, they’re not completely protected. Viruses, parasites, and bacteria can still find their way into your home through shoes, clothing, visitors, or other animals.

Another important reminder: pets are experts at hiding pain. Changes in appetite, activity, behavior, or even sleeping habits can be the first signs that something isn’t right. These subtle changes are often easy to miss, but they can be significant.

And lastly, never give human medications without consulting your veterinarian. Some medicines that are safe for people can be toxic—even life-threatening—to dogs and cats.

Good veterinary care isn’t just about treating illness. It’s about preventing disease, detecting problems early, and helping your pet live a longer, healthier, and happier life.”

At OptionVet, we believe that educating pet owners is just as important as treating patients. An informed fur parent makes better decisions—and healthier pets.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to our actual clinic records, at least 18 cases of Ehrlichiosis were diagnosed at OptionVet within the past year.

Ehrlichiosis is a serious tick-borne disease that can affect your dog’s blood cells and immune system. In severe cases, it may lead to anemia, bleeding disorders, chronic illness, and even life-threatening complications.

⚠️ Common signs include:
🐾 Loss of appetite
🐾 Weakness or lethargy
🐾 Fever
🐾 Pale gums
🐾 Nosebleeds
🐾 Easy bruising
🐾 Weight loss

The good news? Ehrlichiosis can often be prevented through regular tick control and early veterinary care.

✅ Use veterinarian-recommended tick preventives
✅ Check your pet regularly for ticks
✅ Schedule routine wellness examinations
✅ Consult your veterinarian if you notice any symptoms

💚 Early detection saves lives.

If your pet has been exposed to ticks or is showing any of these signs, don’t wait—have them checked by a veterinarian.

🐾 KIDNEY DISEASE: THE SILENT ILLNESS 🐾

The kidneys play a vital role in your pet’s health. They filter waste products from the blood, regulate hydration, maintain electrolyte balance, and help control blood pressure.

When the kidneys become damaged, they gradually lose their ability to perform these functions. Unfortunately, signs often do not appear until a significant portion of kidney function has already been lost.

⚠️ COMMON SIGNS OF KIDNEY DISEASE

💧 Increased drinking (Polydipsia)
Your pet may seem thirstier than usual and empty their water bowl more frequently.

🚽 Increased urination (Polyuria)
Damaged kidneys cannot concentrate urine effectively, causing pets to urinate more often.

🍽️ Poor appetite
Waste products build up in the bloodstream, leading to nausea and reduced appetite.

⚖️ Weight loss
Loss of appetite and muscle wasting can cause gradual weight loss.

🤮 Vomiting
Toxin accumulation may result in nausea and vomiting.

😴 Lethargy
Pets with kidney disease often become less active and tire more easily.

🔬 HOW IS KIDNEY DISEASE DIAGNOSED?

🩸 Blood Testing
Measures important kidney markers such as Creatinine, BUN, and SDMA. Elevated values may indicate decreased kidney function.

💧 Urinalysis
Evaluates urine concentration and checks for protein or other abnormalities that may suggest kidney dysfunction.

📸 Kidney Ultrasound
Allows veterinarians to examine the size, shape, and structure of the kidneys and identify possible underlying causes.

💡 Early kidney disease may not be visible at home. Regular wellness examinations and laboratory testing can help detect problems before severe symptoms develop.

Early detection allows pets to receive treatment sooner, helping improve comfort, quality of life, and long-term management.
