Team Building hangover! 💙

We had such an unforgettable time last May 19–21, 2026 at The Nest Resort & Campground.

Three days filled with laughter, chaos, games, late-night talks, good food, swimming, endless memories, and moments that will always remind us that together, we make a great team! From the fun activities to the unexpected bonding moments, every part of the trip made our team stronger, closer, and even more grateful for one another. 🫶🏻

Thank you to everyone who made Royal Paws Veterinary Hospital Team Building 2026 successful and memorable. 💙

Congratulations to all winners of the various games and activities that we prepared. Until our next Team Building! Maybe somewhere farther? We can never tell. 🫣🫶🏻

A 5-year-old intact male Shih Tzu was presented to the clinic due to a slit wound on the lower eyelid caused by a grooming accident. The patient underwent thorough examination and immediate wound management to prevent further damage to the delicate eyelid structures and to preserve proper eye function.

Eyelid injuries should never be ignored, as even small lacerations can lead to irritation, infection, improper blinking, corneal ulcers, or permanent scarring when left untreated. Prompt veterinary care is important to ensure proper healing and comfort for the patient.

Thankfully, the injury was addressed immediately theough simple surgical intervention, and the patient is now on the road to recovery.

Case: Pyometritis in a 5-year-old intact female Shih Tzu

Pyometritis is a serious infection and inflammation of the uterus that can quickly become life-threatening when left untreated. While it is more commonly seen in older unspayed female dogs, this case reminds us that younger dogs can also be affected.

⚠️ Signs may include:
• Vaginal discharge
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Lethargy or weakness
• Fever
• Increased drinking and urination
• Swollen or painful abdomen

🩺 Treatment:
Emergency surgery (ovariohysterectomy/spay) is often the best and safest treatment to remove the infected uterus and prevent complications such as sepsis or uterine rupture.

🐶 Myths vs Facts About Pyometritis

❌ MYTH: “Only old dogs get pyometra.”
✅ FACT: Although more common in older dogs, younger intact females can still develop uterine infections.

❌ MYTH: “My dog can recover with antibiotics alone.”
✅ FACT: Antibiotics may help temporarily, but surgery is usually necessary to completely treat the condition and save the dog’s life.

❌ MYTH: “A dog should have one litter before being spayed.”
✅ FACT: There is no medical benefit to allowing a dog to have one litter first. Early spaying actually helps prevent pyometra and other reproductive diseases.

❌ MYTH: “Discharge after heat is always normal.”
✅ FACT: Persistent, foul-smelling, bloody, or pus-like discharge should never be ignored and requires immediate veterinary attention.

Early detection saves lives. Always monitor your pets closely and consult your veterinarian immediately if you notice unusual signs after a heat cycle. 🐾
