🚨 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 🚨
Over the past days, three female dogs—Misty, Roxy, and Cici—were brought to Vet Crest Animal Emergency Center with the same life-threatening condition: 𝓹𝔂𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓽𝓻𝓪.
Although the diagnosis was the same, each patient presented differently:
• Misty – Closed-type pyometra with recurrent 𝙢𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙪𝙢𝙤𝙧
• Roxy – Pyometra complicated by a 𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙙𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣
• Cici – 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣-𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 pyometra
Pyometra can present in different ways, including open or closed-type infections and cases complicated by uterine masses or mammary tumors—but all require urgent, life-saving surgical intervention 🚨
All three patients underwent emergency surgery, along with close monitoring and post-operative care. Thanks to timely recognition and decisive treatment, all surgeries were successful.
Misty, Roxy, and Cici are now safely home with their families and recovering well 💛
These cases serve as an important reminder:
Pyometra does not always look the same, but it is always an emergency. Any unspayed female dog showing lethargy, loss of appetite, abdominal enlargement, or vaginal discharge should be seen by a veterinarian immediately.
We thank the families for acting fast and trusting our emergency team 💗
