Petvet Central is proud to be part of the 31st Philippine Animal Hospital Association (PAHA) Conference happening today at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City! 🇵🇭

Representing our team: Doc Lovely, Doc Shambee, Doc Isabella, and our Furry-in-Chief, Doc Hazel.

Today marks the first day of learning, discussions, and exchanging experiences with fellow veterinary professionals. It’s always a good opportunity to step out of our usual routine, hear different perspectives, and stay updated with what’s happening in the veterinary field.

We’re looking forward to everything this convention has to offer — from the talks and sessions to the conversations and connections along the way.

Meet Poly, a 9-year-old intact male dog who developed a perineal hernia, a condition where the muscles of the pelvic floor weaken and separate. This weakness creates an opening that allows abdominal or pelvic organs to push into the area beside the a**s, causing a noticeable swelling in the butt region. In Poly’s case, the condition developed secondary to an enlarged prostate, a common problem in older unneutered male dogs.

To ensure the best possible outcome, meticulous pre-surgical preparation was performed. Poly then underwent perineal herniorrhaphy to reconstruct and strengthen the weakened muscles, along with castration to address the underlying cause and prevent further enlargement of the prostate. Following surgery, Poly received intensive wound care, medications, and close monitoring during his 9-day confinement. Thanks to successful surgery and dedicated post-operative care, Poly was discharged and is now happily enjoying life once again with his loving fur-mily.
