AGAIN, FPA WARNS FARMERS ABOUT PROLIFERATION OF FAKE FERTILIZERS

During his interview in the Agritungtungan program aired on DZDA 105.3 and streamed on DA Cagayan Valley FB page today, Mr. Leo Bangad, the Regional Manager of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) again sternly warned farmers about buying fake fertilizers.

“There are unscrupulous persons taking advantage of the limited supply of fertilizers, like triple 14, aggravated by the soaring prices triggered by the Ukraine-Russia conflict,” he said.

Bangad elaborated that they have discovered these in sacks, bearing faded markings of a reputable fertilizer manufacturer, and when opened, the texture of the granular beads also are of a pale different color.

When these were brought for content analysis, their hunch proved to be true. He also said that the perpetrators also sold these at the same price as a legitimate fertilizer so as not to be noticed. Fake fertilizer can be identified through its label as the printing is lighter than the original one. Also, the texture and color of the fertilizer are different from the original.

“We advise the farmers to buy from agri-supplies and dealers accredited by the FPA. Let us all be vigilant on this issue of nefarious people taking advantage of our small holding farmers,” he said. - #
