Basic Hamster Care 😊

Hamsters are lovely, small pets that are easy to care for, but they still need proper attention to stay healthy and happy.

First, their home matters a lot. Choose a spacious, well-ventilated cage with soft bedding like paper or aspen shavings—never use pine or cedar, which can harm their lungs. Place the cage in a quiet, warm spot away from direct sunlight, drafts, and loud noises. Add a solid exercise wheel, chew toys, and small hiding spots so they feel safe and active.

For food and water, feed them high-quality hamster pellets as their main diet. You can give small amounts of fresh vegetables or occasional seeds as treats, but avoid sugary or salty foods. Always keep clean, fresh water available, and change it daily.

Keep their space clean by spot-cleaning waste every day and deep-cleaning the cage once a week. When handling your hamster, be gentle and calm—let them get used to you first, and never pick them up by their tail. Handle them regularly to build trust, but do it gently and for short periods.

With simple, consistent care, your hamster will live a happy, healthy life and become a wonderful little companion.
