Campbell's dwarf hamster
Campbell’s dwarf hamster is a small species of hamster in the genus Phodopus (family Cricetidae). It is native to the steppes and semi-deserts of central and eastern Asia, including Mongolia, northern China, southern Russia (including Tuva and the Altai Mountains), and Kazakhstan.
Wikipedia
It typically measures about 8–10 cm (3–4 inches) in head-body length (with a very short tail of ~0.5–1.4 cm) and weighs around 20–50 g in captivity. It has soft grey-brown dorsal fur with a narrow dark stripe running along the back, white or greyish underparts, and relatively small ears. It is closely related to (and sometimes confused with) the winter white/Djungarian hamster (Phodopus sungorus), but differs in having smaller ears, no dark patch on the crown, a narrower dorsal stripe, and usually grey rather than pure white belly fur; it also does not turn white in winter.
Wikipedia
It is named after Charles William Campbell, who collected the first specimen in Mongolia in 1902. The species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN and is commonly kept as a pet.
