When I ask people "Is your dog socialized?", most of them say something about their dog meeting other dogs. Socialization is not just about your dog meeting other dogs. It's not about bringing your dogs to the daycare to meet other dogs. It's an important part of your dog's life that is usually skipped because most dog owners know very little of it.
Socialization is important not just for you, your dog and others to be safe. It's essential to your dog's well-being and confidence. The more you socialize your puppy, with people, objects, dogs, other animals, sounds, touches, and situations (indoors, outdoors, etc), the better his response will be when exposed to these things. Additionally, if your puppy is hesitant about something and then gets over it, the more his confidence grows.
You are setting your puppy up for success when you properly socialize him! You are basically preparing your puppy for the real world!
One of the important topics we teach in our courses is socialization. If you want to start your puppy's socialization right, head on over to our link in bio to register to our courses. Adult dogs can also learn new things and habituate but it will take longer. We're here to guide you on how to teach your dog - whether you have a puppy or an older dog.
