🐾 Successful Emergency Cesarean Section – Mommy Fiona 🐾

Meet Fiona, a beautiful Golden Retriever who was brought to Zoe’s Clapier Vet Clinic for an emergency cesarean section after experiencing prolonged labor. She had been straining for several hours, but no additional puppies were being delivered, raising concern for dystocia (difficult birth).

Upon thorough physical examination and assessment by our attending veterinarian, diagnostic tests including a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and ultrasound were performed. The results confirmed that one of the puppies was lodged in Fiona’s birth canal, making immediate surgical intervention necessary to save both the mother and her remaining puppies.

Thankfully, the emergency cesarean section was successfully performed. Fiona delivered a total of 10 puppies. Sadly, despite our best efforts, 2 puppies that had been trapped inside for an extended period did not survive. While this was heartbreaking, we are grateful that Fiona and her 8 healthy puppies made it through the procedure safely.

Today, Mommy Fiona has already gone home and is now recovering comfortably with her puppies under the loving care of her family. She will continue to be closely monitored to ensure a smooth recovery for both her and her newborns.

We would like to thank Fiona’s owners for their trust and for seeking veterinary care promptly. Early intervention during difficult labor can make all the difference in saving lives.

Please join us in wishing Mommy Fiona and her eight little bundles of joy a healthy and happy journey ahead. ❤️🐶🐾
