Welcome to The Bocas Breeze family, Lucy!
Sundays I normally post our "Pet of the Week" segment. This past weekend was different. When I received the post material from the Papá Gato team I replied "Wait a minute now..." I showed the family the photos and we confirmed our interest in her immediately.
When it comes to cats, we had recently loved and lost. On August 18, 2026, we had to bid farewell to our sweet ginger boy, Pete (short for "Pizza").
Gone too soon, but never forgotten; Pete will be forever remembered with his signature blue bow tie, perched atop Mariela's empanada shop, winning the hearts, the minds and photo ops of the wide-eyed Bocas Town wanderers passing by.
Though life marches on. Sunday we fell in love at first sight with Lucy and became instantly ready to welcome the nine-week kitten to her new forever home. "Lady Lu" is what I've felt inclined to call her during these first 24 hours.
I'm proud to report that Lucy is one of several Bocas Breeze Pet of the Week success stories since the weekly segment debuted in April of 2025, made possible by the dedication and consistency of the team of Papá Gato Animal Welfare volunteers.
Bocas is a better place because of their tenacity and anyone who has ever backed them. If you are not a Papá Gato supporter yet, it's never too late to start..!!!
Papá Gato always has animals in need for adoption. Like always, always. Every day. And one is featured every Sunday on The Bocas Breeze Pet of the Week. That is of course unless someone from our editorial team moves to adopt him or her first...
