Our recent in-clinic daffodil day fundraiser bought in $200 of client and community donations. With us matching each dollar donated, we are really pleased to make a $400 donation to the NZ Cancer Society this year. Thankyou to everyone who helped us support the great work the NZ Cancer Society does in our community every day.

There have been 2 cases of Bird Flu (H5N1) detected in the lower North Island.

🐱 For cat owners
Although the current risk is low, cats can become infected with H5N1 if they hunt or scavenge infected birds.
We recommend:
• Prevent cats from hunting or scavenging sick or dead birds.
• If H5N1 becomes established in your local area, consider keeping cats indoors or supervising them outside.
• Do not feed raw poultry products

🐶 For dog owners
• Keep dogs away from sick or dead birds.
• Prevent scavenging while out walking.
• Do not feed raw poultry products

🐦 If you find a sick or dead wild bird
Unnecessary handling of a sick bird can cause increased stress. Please leave the bird where it is and report it to MPI on 0800 80 99 66. If there are more than 3 dead birds in one area, please report this to MPI

⚠️ If your pet has had contact with a sick or dead bird and becomes unwell, please call our clinic before bringing them in so we can advise on the safest next steps.

We are very proud to see our support for Vets for Kai continue to deliver much needed food to those in our community who need some assistance. It has been awesome to collaborate with our neighbours PAWS Vets on this and we would both love to see more local clinics come on board with us.

Yesterday 'Vets for Kai' delivered another 160kg of sausages to local North Canterbury foodbanks. Half of this filled the new chest freezer at St Barnabas Church "Food for Fridays", with the other half going to Hope Community Trust. The team at Hope informed me they had distributed approx 16,000 meals last month which just starts to highlight the level of need out there. It's great to see local businesses supporting our community. Thankyou to PAWS Vets and Pegasus Bay Vets for continuing to fund Vets for Kai, and thankyou to Hellers for supporting us with such generous terms. Another special shout out also goes to New World Ravenswood, I heard from both the teams at Hope and at St Barnabus about the huge support you have provided them both recently.

We are proud to support the efforts of Vets for Kai in delivering quality food products into local foodbanks. We are being told there is a massive increase in need in North Canterbury as fuel prices and the flow-on effects on the price of all goods starts to bite. If you have a desire to help we cannot recommend the team at Hope Community Trust highly enough. They are doing alot of good

Thank you Vets for Kai and Vets Ravenswood for the generous donation of sausages for the Hope Community Trust Foodbank. Sausages are a favorite, in every food parcel.
