My little unicorn 🦄 ( photos are a bit gory)
Well young Harley decided the other night that I didn't have enough to do so decided he wanted to become a unicorn.
Went out to feed and Harley was a bit depressed and had a bit of the sulks going on.
Noticed a tricked oh blood down his face and what looked like a bit of dry mud in forelock.
Thought young boys been playing rough and he had got a kick in the head while playing.
Tried to touch the mud to see if anything major but no way was that happening.
Gave the mud a bit of a flick and met with a solid wooden sound and definitely not mud.
Spent a good amount of time trying to get a grip on the what now looked like plywood..
Finally got halter on but being a young one without a lot of handling and in pain examining the wound was just not a thing.
Reluctant to call a vet on dinner time i decided I really needed some help and a tetanus at least.
It was my luck that when the vet arrived and we looked at him, the bit of wood was gone, he had rubbed it off...
Lucky vet had better eyes than me and spotted some splinters still in wound.. THATS WERE THE FUN STARTED.
Having never experienced pain before or clippers or twitches or vets the little guy put up a real fight.
Finally came time to sedate for good look at the wound....
Galaxy ponies are cheap drunks I told the vet... I will never again say that to a vet. Harley put up a fight that would rival Christa Pike.
So long story short finally with another vet arriving with stronger drugs and then another vet on the phone we finally got the little guy asleep..
Just as well as those small plywood splinters were actually not splinters but 1/2 a fence rail.
This was one of the only times I have almost vomited dealing with injuries..
How he actually missed anything important like a brain I have no idea. The vet could nearly insert a whole hand into the hole but it had luckily been driven behind his actual ear so very very lucky.
So finally after what i think was 3 hours the 2 vets on site (plus poor first vets mum who came along for a short ride !!!) and backup vet on phone could all go home to bed... I really do appreciate them all for what they did for him even though there may have been a couple of dinners ruined.
So anyone wanting to buy a future superstar .. Harleys your man, this little guy has fight and detirmination and out right toughness and the desire to be a unicorn... just all the requirements of GP pony ..
PM me for details 🦄🦄
