What am I studying?
I am doing a NZ certificate in Animal Healthcare Assisting (Level 4).

What is that?
According to the Allied Veterinary Professional Regulatory Council of New Zealand:

"Animal healthcare assistants (AHA) work alongside clinical professionals, primarily in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting, or assisting the healthcare team on farms. Animal healthcare assistants are the foundation members of the team, and regarded as paraprofessionals. They work under delegation from veterinary professionals such as nurses and veterinarians, providing routine care for boarding and hospitalised patients, maintaining the clinical environment, and supporting the team."

FLEAS:

The flea has a cocoon stage as part of its life-cycle, where it can remain dormant for a long time in the carpet of a home where there has been an animal living with fleas previously.

If a house is vacant, fleas stay in the cocoon until vibrations in the house from new owners, trigger it to hatch out in the adult fleas. The simultaneous hatching of all these adult fleas when you moved in has caused you cat’s current flea infestation.

In order to get rid of the fleas you will need to treat the environment as well as your cat.

First, you would need to vacuum the floors and furniture thoroughly, then treat them with a spray, or powder product.

To treat your cat, there are several options such as giving her a bath with a flea shampoo, using a flea comb, a flea collar, or a topical product on her skin.

You will need to repeat the flea treatment again later as the cocoon stages which are left in the carpet are resistant to many products.
