I am very excited to announce that I have a very special foal due early in 2027.
This year marks ten years since the Pennal The Great foals started arriving in NZ, after importing the semen from the UK with Harri’s owner Shona Thomson.
It was going to be an even longer wait for me to have a Harri foal, as I have stuck to my plan which has always been to use UK frozen AI over my Marmie (Culhwch bred) fillies.
Doug from Black River recognised the wait I had already had and the time still to count down until the Marmie fillies are of breeding age and kindly offered his precious mare Black River Show Girl for me to breed to frozen.
Last weekend I scanned Lola at 42 days in foal to Pennal the Great.
Lola proved to be very trainable under saddle when she was started for Doug and has an exceptional temperament and is an absolute joy to have at home.
I will be waiting with huge anticipation for this cross!
Thank you to both Doug and Shona for both being a significant part of this exciting foal.

Brackenleigh’s Royal Appeal - what a beautiful filly owned by Shaun and Daf of Brackenleigh Stud.
When I saw her as a young foal I described her as having pep in her step - she moved with energy and lightness - this definitely hasn’t changed!
The cross of Brackenleigh’s Royal Sovereign (Arawa Commodore x Cwmkaren Duchess Imp Aus) with Eryri Barcud Coch has certainly been a good one 🧡♥️🧡

Ardachy Mary turned 28 years old today! These photos are a few years ago but she’s still looking super in her retirement ♥️ She is the gentlest soul and has had a profound impact on my welsh cob journey. Mary consistently bred beautiful cobs and I was very lucky that she was exceptionally fertile to using UK frozen stallions. Her bloodlines are very old - her UK dam and sire were both foaled in the 1970’s!

Brie and Mirabelle, looking even more alike as time goes on. Brie is out of Hillswood Crackling Rose and Mirabelle is out of Burrowa Annwyn, both by Marmaduke. Late season grass always seems to keep them happy. The fillies are the future of this little stud 🦄🧡🧡

Happy New Year, thank you to everyone who has made my year a better one in the face of some challenges!
From Mayflower who has landed on her hooves in the best home I could want for one of Marmie’s special fillies.
To those of you entrusting your beautiful mares to me and choosing Marmaduke, I really appreciate the support and the decision to include my bloodlines in your own breeding journeys.
Trying to breed a filly with UK bloodlines from my matriach mare, has sent me on a path of producing an exceptional stallion, who is now leaving his own legacy.
The universe certainly works in mysterious ways!

As a small time breeder, all I wish for the cobs I breed and sell, is a home where they are loved and where there is a true partnership to celebrate. Eryri Aur Melys (Bounce) was a very special foal, being by Trevallion Enzo (AI UK) out of my foundation mare Ardachy Mary. He has found his place in the world with his owner ♥️ Bounce is broken to saddle and harness and has recently had a few outings in-hand, where this beautiful photo was taken 🦄

I met Marmie’s latest filly today - she is sweet and feminine and very much like Marmie was as a foal - full of pony type with real pep in her step!
At only 9 days old, she is filling out beautifully.

Brackenleigh’s Royal Appeal is out of Brackenleigh’s Royal Sovereign (Cwmkaren Duchess x Arawa Commodore) which is another new cross for Marmie!
