Yippee :) 12 cats later and I'm finally finished at Drivers Cres Church in Cannons Creek, Porirua.

The last little girl turned out to be an owned opportunist 🤣 She was promptly returned back home after a spa night at HQ.

Molly the 10 year old Matriarch was owned so I desexed, microchipped and returned her back to her appreciative family. Molly's 5 beautiful babies were rescued by hand. Within the first week one sadly passed away, and the 6th unrescued kitten never returned to the feeding area which I'm still heartbroken over 🥲 Then came Dolly and her 3 kittens who have unfortunately brought in ringworm which we're still dealing with on week 5 via quarantine.

Teddy the big Ginger was definitely owned by someone at some stage, while Billy the Tom Tabby and the Tabby girl are classic wildborns, likely from Molly.

Fosters!!! I would love to move some kitties on from HQ so I can keep rescuing. I have another 3 colonies on my list but I can't begin without space. We provide our fosters with absolutely everything and anything you need, we just ask for your time, space and patience.

⭐ FOUND CAT - DRIVERS CRES, CANNONS CREEK ⭐

I've been rescuing cats in Drivers Cres next to the Church in Canons Creek since March, and this little girl has been visiting every day / second day.

She is a Black & White Tuxedo with very distinctive markings. She is microchipped but unfortunately it is not registered. She is human friendly, but not cat friendly.

If you recognize this lovely lady please get in touch. She has definitely been owned and cared for at some stage.

😷 LET'S TALK CAT FLU! 😷

There's a bout of cat flu going around at the moment and we're noticing it in droves!

It's that time of year - it's cold, the weather is unpredictable and we're even noticing indoor only cats with symptoms.

A cats immune system fully matures at 6 months old and from my experience, each cats immune system has different levels of immunity. Some have a high working immune system, some are average, while some are below average.

In cat flu you'll mainly notice watery or glassy eyes and prominent sneezing. Symptoms can worsen to a gunky nose and eyes, low energy, sleeping more often, a high or low temperature, lethargism, difficulty breathing, mouth breathing and generally being unwell in themselves.

Most cats will push through themselves, but some need a little extra TLC. If you're worried or symptoms persist or worsen I highly recommend a vet visit after 24/48 hours of no improvement.

Flumax is a great immune booster to help with this and is readily available. As a paste you can add it to their food, or pump / syringe into their mouth. I also highly recommend shower steams to clear up the gunk and help your kitty to breathe better.

I highly advise vaccinating, and keeping on top of it. Every cat should have their first year vax and booster, and an extra vaccine at year / age 2 and 3.

Pictured is our girl Easter who was unwell on Kings Birthday. Whilst we did take her to a vet, medication wasn't prescribed as she did not have a temperature or worsening symptoms. The following day Easter improved, and continued improving until she was back to normal 48 hours later. :)
