⚠️ Bird Flu (H5N1) has been detected in the Wellington region

Following the recent detection of avian influenza (bird flu) in a wild bird in the Wellington area, we're asking our community to be extra vigilant.

If you see a sick or dead wild bird:
🐦 Please don't touch it or move it.
📞 Report it to the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) on 0800 80 99 66.
🐕 Keep dogs on a lead and away from sick or dead birds.

If your pet has come into contact with a sick or dead bird, please contact your nearest CareVets clinic for advice before bringing them in.

Our Wellington clinics have also introduced additional precautions for birds visiting the clinic. Please phone us before bringing in any bird, so our team can safely assess the situation and provide guidance.

Please note that CareVets Wainuiomata will be closed on Friday, 10 July for the Matariki public holiday.

We will reopen as usual on Saturday, 11 July, and look forward to seeing you then.

⚠️ Early Closing Notice ⚠️

Due to the current weather conditions and short staffing, CareVets Wainuiomata will be closing at 6:00 PM today.

We will reopen as usual tomorrow at 9:00 AM.

If your pet requires urgent veterinary care after we close, please contact the Wellington After Hours Veterinary Clinic, which opens at 7:00 PM, on 04 473 7545.

📢 Planned Power Outages – CareVets Wainuiomata

Please be advised that our clinic will be affected by two planned power outages on:

🔹 Monday 8 June – 9:00am to 3:00pm
🔹 Friday 12 June – 9:00am to 3:00pm

During these times, our phones and email systems will be unavailable.

While the clinic will remain open, we will be unable to see emergency or urgent cases. If your pet requires urgent medical attention during these outages, please contact one of our other CareVets clinics.

Any voicemails or emails received during the outage will be returned as soon as power is restored.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while this essential work is carried out.

🎓✨ Big Congratulations, Abi! ✨🎓

Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone for our newest team member, Abi, who is officially graduating as a Veterinarian! 🐾

Abi has recently joined our Wainuiomata clinic, and in such a short time she has already outshined our expectations. Her passion, dedication, and care for both our patients and clients have made a wonderful impression on the whole team.

We’re so proud to have her as part of our clinic and can’t wait to see her continue to grow and thrive in her veterinary career.

Due to Wellington’s current State of Emergency and severe weather conditions, we are operating today with skeleton staff. The clinic remains open, however we may be running with reduced capacity.

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding, as some non-urgent appointments may need to be rescheduled to later in the week.
