πŸΎπŸ’š VET NURSE APPRECIATION WEEK πŸ’šπŸΎ

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary nurses who are such an important part of CareVets Wainuiomata.

Our vet nurses do so much more than meets the eye, from comforting a nervous patient in consult and spoiling them with too many treats to anesthesia, surgical assistance, laboratory diagnostics, radiography, emergency/critical care and supporting you through some of the most difficult moments with your beloved pets.

We’d love to hear from YOU! πŸ₯°

Have you had a memorable experience or special encounter with one of our vet nurses? Maybe a nurse went above and beyond for your pet, helped you through a stressful visit, gave your pet some extra love and reassurance, or simply made you feel looked after when you needed it most.

πŸ’¬ Tell us your story in the comments!

Your kind words mean more to our nurses than you might realise and we’d love to give them a little extra appreciation this week.

To all of our amazing vet nurses: thank you for everything you do, every single day. πŸΎπŸ’š

🚨 Warning: Excessively bad hair days expected! 🚨

This Wednesday and Thursday, our veterinary team will be swapping our scrub hats for some seriously questionable hairstyles/wigs as we take part in Wig Wednesday to support children and families affected by cancer.

From wild curls to colourful creations, we'll be wearing our wigs proudly while raising funds for an amazing cause. πŸŽ—οΈ

Never fear - if your animal does not like these the staff will be able to remove them to make them feel at ease but if you think your pet would love to partake with a cute outfit they can join in the fun too

πŸ’› Every week, four Kiwi families hear the words, "your child has cancer." Child Cancer Foundation receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of communities like ours to provide vital support for children and their whānau. That's why we're proudly taking part in Wig Wednesday this week. πŸŽ—οΈ
If you'd like to support us and help make a difference, we'd love your contribution, no matter how big or small - you can bring cash to go into the donation tubs, scan the QR code or text the number to make a donation.

⚠️ Bird Flu (H5N1) has been detected in the Wellington region

Following the recent detection of avian influenza (bird flu) in a wild bird in the Wellington area, we're asking our community to be extra vigilant.

If you see a sick or dead wild bird:
🐦 Please don't touch it or move it.
πŸ“ž Report it to the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) on 0800 80 99 66.
πŸ• Keep dogs on a lead and away from sick or dead birds.

If your pet has come into contact with a sick or dead bird, please contact your nearest CareVets clinic for advice before bringing them in.

Our Wellington clinics have also introduced additional precautions for birds visiting the clinic. Please phone us before bringing in any bird, so our team can safely assess the situation and provide guidance.

Together, we can help protect New Zealand's wildlife, our pets and our communities. πŸ’™
