SLOW TO REPLY 🙏💚

Thank you so much to everyone who has messaged about adopting a parrot - I am getting to your messages, I promise!

I believe the post may have been shared to an overseas page, so I am getting lots of messages from outside NZ, so I'm just working through everyone.

Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience!

PARROTS FOR ADOPTION! 💜🦜

We have a number of beautiful birds ready to meet their new families! Whether you're looking for a companion bird or an aviary bird, we have what you need!

Scrabbles - The Lorikeet 🤡
Talk about a clown! This crazy bird will keep you laughing all day. Scrabbles' favourite things to do include licking in your ears and making fart sounds! She needs an indoor home with lots of attention and playtime.

Kiwi - The Lorikeet 💚
This tiny green machine may be small but her personality is HUGE! She's around 11 years old and is looking for a cool place to call her own. She likes to play on her own terms and will be your best friend if you have snacks.

Kevin & Gavin - Lovebirds 💛💙
These two little cuties will bring so much colour into your life. They're super adorable but very independent - they like their own space. They're not keen on handling but are happy to be watched while they do their adorable lovebird things. They'd be best suited to a large aviary or big indoor cage.

Green & Girl - Ringneck & Alexandrine 💚
These two were found dumped on the North Shore. They're absolutely stunning, but very shy and don't trust people yet. We don't know what their life was like before, but they're extremely scared. They would do best in a large aviary where they can feel safe.

Snow - Ringneck 🤍
Snow is a pretty lady who LOVES her toys. We tried to bond her with other birds and she said "nope, mine!" She's happiest with her own space and all her toys to herself. An aviary would suit her perfectly.

If you're interested in adding a beautiful feathered friend to your family, please reach out for more info 💜

SAY HELLO TO LILLIE 🦎💚

This sweet girl with the most beautiful big eyes came into our care this weekend.

She's a little nervous, so she's currently with one of our incredible foster homes getting that extra one-on-one love she needs. Truly, our foster homes are family now and we couldn't do this without them.

Lillie does have a slight shed issue and her right eye and side of her mouth looks a little abnormal. We're giving her time to shed calmly before we take a closer look, so we don't stress her out.

WELCOME EVIE 💚🦎

Evie was surrendered to us yesterday. She had a huge car trip all the way up from Tauranga!

She is such a gorgeous dragon with a fantastic personality.

We are so thankful that Evie's mum drove all that way just to bring her to us, knowing she will be in safe, loving hands here at Be Kind.

Welcome to the Be Kind family, sweet girl

SHARING THE LOVE 💚

Holly from the amazing Holly's Little Moggy Rescue has kindly donated yet again some more delicious goodies for our rescue crew here - walnuts, fruit and veggies and some meat!

This morning I spent my time dividing it up, making parrot chop, reptile salads and some homemade cat food.

Everyone is already loving the delicious bounty she gave us!

I'm so unbelievably thankful - I love when rescues can work together and support one another, all for the good of the animals.

Please enjoy some photos of the crew enjoying their gift! 💞

COOPER'S ADVENTURE 🌳🐈

Other than all the exotic animals, we also have 5 indoor cats - including Cooper.

Cooper decided he wanted to see what it was like to be an outdoor cat and escaped on Wednesday night. We found him up a tree... not just any tree, a HUGE, scary tree.

We tried everything to get him down but he wasn't moving. It was absolutely heartbreaking hearing him crying for us while we felt completely helpless.

I know a lot of people say "if he got up, he'll come down" but that was not the case - he was truly stuck.

We put a call out on our local community group and the amount of support we got was so heartwarming.

Eamon from Legacy Tree Services came out to help. He climbed that super scary tree and got my baby boy back down safely. It was incredible to watch him go up as high as Cooper was - right at the tippy top. He did get peed on, but he brought my boy home safe!

I cannot recommend him enough! If you have any trees that need dealing with, please contact him - he's super nice and absolutely outstanding at climbing trees.

[email protected]

Thank you so much Eamon for bringing my boy home.

From now on the only tree Cooper will be climbing is a cat tree! Cooper is safe - he was very thirsty, hungry and covered in his own waste, but he's now fast asleep with his brothers after some much needed food. 💚

PET EXPO 2026!!! 💚🎉

We had the most amazing time at the 2026 Pet Expo! We are so thankful we were invited back again this year.

We met so many amazing people, rescues, and companies. It was truly heartwarming to hear that people came especially to see us and the animals - it means more than you know.

I'm so proud of all the reptiles, they always do so amazing there... even if Charlie the bearded dragon did try to eat my cheesecake 😆

We shared the stall this year with North Shore Turtle Rescue and it was wonderful to help show off her amazing turtles available for adoption.

A MASSIVE thank you to Dylan and Fraya for helping transport, set up, and run the stall with me - I honestly couldn't do it without you two!

And thank you to everyone who came and supported us. We hope to see you again next year!
