Yesterday we entered a couple of our ewe lambs, ram lambs and ewe fleeces into the local A&P show. It was good to see people stopping and reading the little info sheet we put out about the breed.
Our babies did well with ram lamb #540 being awarded supreme champion.
They were definitely more interested in eating than being photographed when we got home though!

1st October marks Lincolnshire Day, a chance to celebrate everything the county has to offer, including the Lincoln Longwool Sheep. Named after the county, unfortunately this Lincolnshire Native Breed is on the RBST priority watchlist.

Got a few Lincoln sheepskins back from the tanners. Lovely, soft and heavy skins. Will need a bit more work to bring the curls back but still they get the tick of approval from our toughest critic 😂

The girls came into the shed today for a 6n1 and Salvexin+B injection in preparation for lambing! We believe any pregnant ewe should receive a 6n1 injection 6 weeks before lambing to give the lambs the best chance for survival. 5n1 doesn't cut the mustard as it doesn't protect against sudden death syndrome like the 6n1 does!
The Salvexin+B protects the ewe and lamb against salmonella and reduces our risk of miscarriages, abortions and sudden death in the ewes themselves.
Unfortunately with winters being as wet as they have, our paddocks become makeshift ponds and we are seeing alot more ducks and seagulls on the farm. So we are doing what we can to protect our girls from the nasty bugs these birds can spread!

With Lincolns being a long wool breed some will also need a bit of an eye clip so they can see!
We are hoping for some sunshine so these girls dry out in time to be bellied before lambing. Stay tuned!

The ram lambs before shearing. They have filled out nicely. Have picked out our top 10 to take through the winter and see how they develop ready for the ram fair. Keep an eye out for our genetics from their older brothers straws about to head overseas 😊

Lambing has begun here at Kyle Hill!

It's a bittersweet moment when the orphan lambs come into the pen and here is our first one. We have named him Rambo. He was a twin that was found under a fence and mum didn't want him back. He will either become a pet lamb or will be mothered on to another ewe if one loses her lamb.
But for now he is getting lots of love and care from the kids.

Our 2020 lincoln ram lambs. Available for purchase. Add a lincoln ram to you flock to increase your wool weight by at least 25%! These guys will be getting shorn in the next few weeks so it's recommend to view them soon to see them in full wool. Last photo is of their sire, Kyle Hill "Big Boy". This lad last weighed in at 137kg and has produced some big lambs for us too so this breed is great for both wool and meat markets. Feel free to message us for more info. Stud paperwork can be provided
