💔 A Heartbreaking Update from Misbehavin Maine C***s NZ 💔
Dear friends, followers and fellow cat lovers,
I wanted to share with you all what has been happening over the past few days, as it has been an incredibly heartbreaking and emotional time for me and my little Maine C**n family. ❤️🩹
As many of you may know, my beautiful girl Marmalade became seriously unwell. She was unable to urinate or pass bowel motions on her own, and despite everything being done to help her, things were not improving as we had hoped. Although she was still eating well, moving around and seeming relatively happy in herself, the underlying problem was still there.
After discussions with the vets and having to face some incredibly difficult decisions, it became clear that there was little chance of her recovering. The thought of putting her through more treatment when it was unlikely to change the outcome was heartbreaking. As much as I wanted to bring my girl home and have everything return to normal, I had to put her welfare first and think about what was kindest for her. Sadly, I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Marmalade. 💔🌈
No matter how much experience we have with animals, nothing quite prepares us for moments like these. Our cats are not just breeding cats; they are part of our family, loved deeply and cared for every single day. Losing one leaves a space that simply cannot be filled.
But sadly, the heartbreak doesn't end there, because Marmalade has left behind 11 precious little Maine C**n kittens, who are not quite three weeks old. 🐾❤️
These little babies now need me more than ever, and I am taking on the enormous responsibility of hand-rearing all eleven of them. Some were already used to having bottle feeds and top-ups, but now every single one depends on me for their nourishment, warmth, comfort and care.
Hand-rearing one kitten is a big commitment, so you can imagine what it means to take on eleven! It means round-the-clock care, lots of feeding, keeping a close eye on their weights, making sure they are thriving, and giving each little one as much love and attention as possible.
I know the road ahead may not be easy, but I am determined to give these babies every chance I possibly can. They have already lost their beautiful mum, and I want to do everything in my power to help them grow into happy, healthy kittens. ❤️
For now, my days and nights will revolve around these little ones. There will be tired eyes, lots of washing, endless feeds and plenty of cuddles, but I will take each day as it comes and hope and pray that all eleven continue to grow stronger.
I also want to thank everyone who has already shown kindness, sent messages and offered support. It means more than you know during such a difficult time.
Please keep our little family in your thoughts. If I am a little quiet on here over the coming days, you will understand why. My priority right now is these eleven babies and giving them the very best start at life that I can.
Run free, my beautiful Marmalade. 🌈 You were loved, you mattered, and you will never be forgotten. Thank you for the precious little lives you have left behind. I promise I will do my very best for them.
With a heavy heart, but with hope for the future,
❤️ Carol — Misbehavin Maine C***s NZ ❤
