Dog registration is now open! 🐾

If your dog already has a One Tag, there's no need to pick up a new one this year or even visit us in person. Simply pay your registration online and you're done! ✅

However, we'd still love to see you if you prefer to pay in person. 😊

• Registration fees are due by 31 July
• Penalties apply from 1 August for unregistered dogs

After a grueling debate judging over 180 of cutest dogs ever 😲, we’re finally ready to announce the top five dog models of South Waikato for 2026!

Say hello to your adorable finalists: LimiT, Oscar, Rocky, Empress and Tui🐶

To vote for your favourite, simply like (or react) to the photo that speaks to you the most 🩷 Voting closes Friday 8 May at 9.00am, so get in quick – and make sure you’re liking the original post (If it gets shared around)!

After that, we’ll tally up the votes, and our top three pups will score a FREE registration and some extra prizes thanks to Vetora Waikato! 🏆
The dog with the most likes will become the face of our dog messaging for 2026 and win a mini photoshoot with our team.

Our judging panel will decide on the top 5 within the next week and then we will need your help to crown the 2026 Top Dog! 👑

We’re on the hunt for the 2026 South Waikato Top Dog (model)! 📸

Got a photogenic pup? Share a photo of your furry friend for the chance to win some paw-some prizes. Simply comment a photo below or message us through Facebook or Instagram Messenger before 4pm, Friday 24 April.

Don’t forget to tell us your pup's name and town they are from!

Our Animal Control and Communications team will choose the finalists, and then it’s over to the South Waikato community to vote by liking or reacting to their favourite dog.

Prizes:
🥇 1st place – Free dog registration + a photoshoot. Your pup becomes the face of our dog communications
🥈 2nd place – Free dog registration
🥉 3rd place – Free dog registration

HEAPS of spot prizes will also be up for grabs throughout the competition thanks to the generous team at Vetora Waikato (Tokoroa). Think dog treats, drink bottles, leads, grooming tools, treatment vouchers, and flea & worming treatments!
