NOVEMBER PUPPY CLASS! 🐾

Our next puppy class is starting in November! 🎉

Over four weeks, your puppy will learn important foundation skills, build confidence, and enjoy positive socialisation with other puppies.

Classes are held Wednesdays at 5:30pm, running for four weeks.

🐾VETERINARY NURSE AWARENESS WEEK 🐾

This week is New Zealand Veterinary Nurse Awareness Week, and we’re celebrating our amazing veterinary nurses here at Timaru Veterinary Centre!

There is a huge amount of knowledge, skill, and care that goes into being a veterinary nurse. Much of this work happens quietly behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed

🐾 CURIOUS CASES: HERO THE GREAT DANE 🐾

Hero came to see Vet Mikaela as he wasn't walking on his back foot. An examination and X-rays confirmed a fracture of one of the weight-bearing toes.

Because of the location of the fracture and Hero's size (66kg), surgical repair was recommended to give it the best chance of healing. Hero was referred to VSA in Christchurch Veterinary Specialists Aotearoa, where his toe was surgically repaired with specialised implants. 🔧

Hero later returned for post-op X-rays and is doing well ✨

With a dog this size, sometimes a few extra sets of hands are needed - definitely an all-hands-on-deck situation for our team!

🐾 MEET THE VET | MIKAELA 🐾

Mikaela is one of our mixed-animal veterinarians and enjoys caring for animals of all shapes and sizes. Before joining our team, she spent 3.5 years working primarily with large animals in our Waimate clinic. She now focuses on small-animal care and has a particular interest in small-animal and lifestyle-block medicine.

When she’s not at the clinic or out on the farm, Mikaela enjoys spending time with her own animals and getting outdoors.

One of her favourite things about being a mixed-animal vet is the variety each day brings. She also loves getting to know the people behind the animals and helping them achieve the best possible outcomes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to add to our Timaru team. This is a full-time position with some rostered weekend work required.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
* The role will include but not limited to: calf disbudding, teat-sealing, body condition scoring, FEC testing and assisting our veterinarians
* A key part of the veterinary farm services team
* Working with farming clients and arranging farm calls
* Some instore reception work and customer services as required

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
* Embrace our culture of providing “best customer service and veterinary care” at all times
* Knowledge of animal health & farming, along with previous experience is required
* A positive and willing attitude
