🚨 BREAKING: First for NZ at Te Aroha Vets! 🐊🇳🇿
Well… today isn’t quite going to plan 😅

Our team headed out very early this morning expecting a routine wetlands check, but instead found themselves assisting DOC and MPI with something slightly outside the usual job description…

👉 A 1.4m juvenile saltwater crocodile. Yes… in Te Aroha. Yes… we checked twice.

After a bit of head scratching (and keeping a very respectful distance 👀), our team helped safely track, catch, and sedate the unexpected visitor. Turns out he’s likely taken a very wrong turn somewhere across the ditch 🇦🇺✈️

The young “salty” is now stable and will be heading back home to Australia, where he belongs — preferably sticking to their side of the Tasman from now on!

Big thanks to DOC and MPI for their quick response and teamwork… and to our staff for adding “crocodile wrangling” to their CVs today 📝😂

Safe to say — no more “boring” days at the clinic!

📅 Clinic hours:
• Closed: 25th & 26th
• Sat 27th: Urgent appointments only (9am-12) - phone at 9am for appointments

• Open as normal: Monday & Tuesday
• Wed 31st: Closing at 3pm
• Closed: 1st & 2nd Jan
• Sat 3rd Jan: Urgent appointments only (9am-12) phone at 9am for apppontments

• Back to normal: Monday 5th Jan 🎉

🚨 Emergency care:
• We have ONE special vet on call for the entire period (We are usually a team of 9 vets, one vet has a lot to deal with!!)
• Emergencies only – please be kind
• Our 24/7 service is for registered clients only
