For those following Lass’s journey to being rehomed here is an update…
The vets said she was an 11/10 good patient for her tooth extraction on Wednesday! Just such a sweet girl ❤️ the extraction went super well and we have a follow up this Wednesday and the next…. Then she should have the “all clear” to begin some light work. 6 weeks is the full healing time but she will be available for viewings once she’s had a week or two under saddle.

*** To all my trimming clients!!
There is just not enough hours in the day atm!! With 4 client horses in, the farm in full swing of lambing and school holidays approaching I quite literally have no time to get out for a hoof run… if anyone is URGENT please just keep hassling me and I’ll do my best to get there ASAP, if not I will get to you when I can.
Thanks all 🤗❤️

Whilst I was busy lambing a ewe on the farm today and max was enjoying a sunny day in her paddock we still managed a rosette 😅 Highest scoring horse over Southland Dressage winter dressage series! 🤗 Pretty special to get this as Max is off to her new semi-retirement/happy hacking home on Tuesday 🥲❤️. Even though she did some quality work at the first winter series show, she made it quite apparent her body was up to any harder work which is fair given her age! Xx she deserves nothing less than the loving, hacking, farm home she’s going to.
I’m back to the drawing board for a horse to compete this season…

Massive congrats to Soph and Brooke who took out the win in both their classes today! They are a cracker pair who are just beginning their partnership and I’m stoked to be involved in helping them so far 🔥🥰.

Huge appreciation to Dressage Southland and Fiber Fresh Equine - New Zealand for sponsoring the winter series!

I took on the lovely Max to produce for dressage and to hack out with friends. She has excelled at one of these two roles! Unfortunately Max’s body isn’t up-to schooling above intro level anymore but she is an absolute legend to hack out and throughly enjoys it. Will pop over anything put in front of her, through ditches, bogs, rivers, up/down banks, etc and enjoys a wee hoon across the flat.

Max is forward, sensitive, intelligent and extremely kind. She takes a minute to trust new people but once she does you can’t help but absolutely adore her and she will do anything for you in return. So Max’s ideal next human would be someone reasonably confident (she pretty bloody sensible but not idiot proof 😅) and calm who just wants to go out on adventures and enjoy the sights. Also someone used to leggy steed with beautiful ground covering paces!

She paddocks well with others and on her own. Self loads on the float and travels well. Happy to be caught, tied, shod, rugged, tacked up, mounted, etc etc. Fantastic around kids and dogs.

Fresh set of shoes ✅
Full mouth sedated dental ✅
Ulcer treatment ✅
Bodywork ✅

In work and ready to go!
Please pm with any questions (have videos)

Note I ADORE this mare and will be fussy on where she goes! I absolutely wouldn’t be moving her on if I was able to continue schooling her but I can’t keep them all 💔

The blood, sweat and tears on the days where you can’t see much joy in the daily tasks really does make all the difference in the end… I pride myself on being fastidious on horse management and I really see the benefits (drawing knowledge from years of fumbling my way through it!). All the crew are happy, healthy and content… what more could you ask for?

And then It’s days like today that really fill my cup and you literally could not tell me I didn’t have the best horses in the world ❤️

… and yes my mood and mental health are directly related to how my ALL horses feel 😂😂🫣🫣

Why of coarse you buy one more horse!

Today we welcomed TW Qwyer to the broodmare crew. She is an absolute cracker mare and I feel pretty bloody lucky to have her in my paddock 🤗.
I’m already dreaming of the cross with Sam… 🤤

TW Qwyer - sired by Quaterback and out of a Weltmeyer (1998 Hanoverian stallion of the year) mare ❤️

Hi all 👋
Currently on day 4 of being tied up at home with one of my boys having a very bad case of Influenza A… Mum priorities trump all so all trimming, lessons, schooling, etc is on hold until he’s back to full health and can return to school.
Thanks in advance for your patience ❤️

Friday last week rugs went on all the horses and they haven’t been off since 😭 and it’s absolutely bucketing down still with no sign of letting off…

Flooded arena
Abscessing hooves
Leaking rugs
Sick children at home
Mud upto my eyeballs

…Must be approaching spring time in Southland! 😬

One positive is Lass is booked in for tooth extraction! Her X-ray revealed a lot of periodontal disease and bone inflammation around the super numary tooth and its neighbour. Upon a referral to one of the top equine dentist, leaving it in is not an option. The mechanics of the mouth will always pushing it backwards (even if ground down) and keeping the periodontal disease active. It’s not happening for 4 weeks so she will be chilling here for now then brought back into work and on the market once she’s fully recovered ❤️🤞.
***Please NO more comments saying how it could be left in - NO one can guarantee she won’t remain in pain or won’t end up in a home where it could become a big issue again. She IS showing lots of pain behaviours currently. This IS her best chance at a pain free life - the absolute least she deserves.

Rainy day rant done 😅

We’ve just had the lovely Veronica from In Flow Equine Therapy visit Te Anau for two days of Masterton Method bodywork. The feedback from everyone was that they highly rate Veronica’s work and their horses released alot of physical and mental tension during their session! ❤️ Even Miss Max who is Uber sensitive and suspicious of the intent of strangers, had some lovely changes! So nice to see how Veronica changes her technique to suit each horse and its needs!
Highly recommend 👌👌🤩🤩
