🐾 Brachycephalic Airway Surgery – Meet Bruce! 🐾

We recently performed airway surgery on Bruce the pug, and we’re so pleased to share that he’s recovering beautifully! 💙 His before-and-after photos show just how much of a difference this procedure can make.

🐶 What is BOAS?
Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) is a condition that affects “flat-faced” pets. Because of their shortened skull shape, these animals often have narrowed airways that make it difficult for them to breathe properly.

🐾 Which breeds are affected?
Commonly affected dog breeds include Pugs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, and Shih Tzus.
Some flat-faced cat breeds, like Persians and Exotic Shorthairs, can also be affected.

💨 Why is it a problem?
Pets with BOAS may struggle with:
• Noisy breathing or snoring
• Exercise intolerance
• Overheating
• Gagging or regurgitation
• In severe cases, life-threatening breathing distress

Over time, the constant effort to breathe can significantly impact their quality of life.

🩺 How can surgery help?
Surgical correction works to open up the airway—often by widening the nostrils and shortening excess tissue in the throat—allowing pets like Bruce to breathe easier, exercise more comfortably, and enjoy a much happier, healthier life.

✨ Bruce is already showing great improvements, and we’re so proud of how well he’s doing!

If you have a flat-faced pet and are interested to know more about this life changing procedure, feel free to get in touch with us—we’re always happy to help. 🐾

Little Eddie got lots of love and cuddles today while he was in for his castrate.
I think his favourites were from his emotional support teddy and our vet student Matt!

We wish Eddie all the best for his recovery ❤️

Dry-off season is officially underway… and our tech team have already hit the ground running 💪🐄

They’ve already been out on farm getting stuck in — helping set herds up for a smooth, successful dry-off and the best possible start to next season. From early mornings to long days in the shed, they’re putting in the hard yards to keep everything ticking along.

If you’ve got dry-off coming up and need a hand with planning, staff training, or you’d simply like to take the pressure off and have our team do the job for you, give the clinic a call — we’re here to help.

Big shoutout to our awesome tech team getting it done 👏
