🐶 Puppy update + thank you 💛

A little Peachitos update… the babies are growing so fast and are now fully on the move, which means our setup is changing almost daily around here 😅

First of all, thank you so much to everyone who has donated, dropped things off, checked in, or helped in any way. We honestly couldn’t do this without you.

At the moment we are sorted with food, and we also don’t need any more blankets right now, so thank you to everyone who already helped with those.

What we do need most at the moment is:

▫️ Disposable puppy pads
We go through a LOT every day. Kmart or The Warehouse puppy pads are perfect. If you’d like to donate some, send us a message and we’ll let you know where to drop them off.

▫️ **Fencing **
The puppies are getting bigger and more adventurous every day, so we need to extend their area. If anyone has fencing, or any kind of enclosure they’re no longer using, we would love to take it off your hands.
There’s also a Small Animal Enclosure from Kmart that would work really well for what we need right now.

▫️ Ziwi Peak Dog Food that will be used as training treats (chicken flavour)
These are amazing and we use loads of them for Peach’s walks, handling, and later for puppy training too. If anyone feels like contributing a bag, we’d be very grateful.

We just want to say a huge thank you to the beautiful humans helping Peaches so far. 🤍

Tasha, Lily, Emma, Natalie, Kayla, Brianna… thank you so much for giving your time, your energy, and your walks to our girl while we’re deep in puppy chaos. It’s been such a big help.

The Peachitos are now fully on the move, peeing, pooing, wrestling, climbing, and keeping us very busy, which means having help with Peaches has made a massive difference for us.

We’ve filled some walking spots already, which is amazing, but we still have a few gaps across the week that we’d love to cover, so we’re still looking for a few more volunteers.

Peaches is lovely to walk. She doesn’t pull, she walks beautifully on a long lead, and she absolutely loves sniffing, treats, rolling around in the grass, and taking her sweet time exploring. We’re looking for someone happy to let her enjoy a relaxed sniffy walk with lots of roly polies included.

Walks are by the Pony Club in Papamoa.

Full instructions, long lead, treats, p**p bags and everything you need are provided.

Just Peaches only please, no other dogs with her.

Dog walker wanted for Peaches 🐾

Our girl Peaches is looking for a few more lovely humans to help with walks over the next little while while we survive puppy chaos season.

The Peachitos are now fully on the move, which means peeing, pooing, cleaning, washing bedding, repeat… all day long 😅 and we’re needing a bit of extra help making sure Peaches still gets some one on one time out and about.

Peaches is an absolute pleasure to walk. She doesn’t pull, walks beautifully on a longer lead, loves taking her time to sniff, search for treats in the grass, and is a big fan of rolling around for a good roly poly whenever she finds the perfect spot. Her ideal walk is relaxed, sniffy, full of little treat breaks, and plenty of opportunities to flop dramatically in the grass.

We’re looking for someone who might be able to help once a week or more, whether that’s morning or afternoon. Weekend help is amazing too. Even one walk makes a huge difference for us right now.

Important: Peaches would need to be walked on her own with no other dogs, sorry. She’s enjoying having her own space at the moment, so solo walks only for now.

We already have two beautiful humans helping a couple of times each week, which we’re incredibly grateful for, but we could definitely use a few more.

Walks are by the Pony Club in Papamoa.

Adoption vs Buying - the bigger picture 📣

Every choice has impact - not just for the animal you bring home, but for the system around them.

When you adopt from a rescue, you’re supporting a cycle that reduces overpopulation and suffering. Cats are desexed, vetted, and placed with care, and your adoption fee helps fund rehabilitation and make space for the next intake. It’s not just one life you’re changing - it’s many.

On the flip side, money spent in the wrong places can keep the problem going.

Backyard breeding remains a major contributor to the number of unwanted cats we see. With little focus on welfare, no long-term responsibility, and kittens often sold without proper care, it adds pressure to an already overwhelmed system.

Your ‘pedigree crosses’ are often falsely advertised - without papers, verified lineage, or accountability, the breed they’re listed as are likely just marketing tools to increase the price tag.

It comes down to this - where your money goes matters.

Do your research, ask questions, and choose based on suitability, not just appearance. Because every decision either supports the solution, or continues the cycle.

Our little Peachitos are growing fast and getting closer to starting solids soon… which means we’re entering the next messy chapter 😅

We’re so incredibly grateful for all the support everyone has shown Peaches and her babies so far. The donations, kind messages, dropped-off supplies… it has honestly meant the world.

As we get ready for weaning, if anyone would like to help with a few things we’re needing at the moment, we would be hugely grateful for:

• Puppy pads
• Puppy wet food, especially puppy starter mousse or puppy canned food for weaning

We’ll be mixing the wet food with their Black Hawk puppy food as they start learning to eat, so any cans help a lot, even just one or two.
