🐾 Position Vacant – Cattery Assistant
Paws in Te Puna | Quarry Road, Te Puna
Do you love cats and enjoy working in a calm, hands-on environment? 🐱
Paws in Te Puna is looking for a reliable, caring person to join our small cattery 5 following split8 shifts:
Saturday: 8am–10am and 4pm–6pm
Sunday: 8am–10am and 4pm–6pm
Occasional Friday: 4pm–6pm
School holiday work may also be available by arrangement.
🧹 Duties include:
Feeding and caring for our cats
Changing litter trays
Cleaning and maintaining the cattery
Ensuring the cats are happy, comfortable and well cared for
Following our daily care routines
Full training will be provided, so previous cattery experience isn't essential. What matters most is that you are reliable, responsible and genuinely love cats.
👋 Who would suit this role?
The split shifts would suit someone who lives locally to Te Puna, particularly a semi-retired person looking for some regular part-time work or a student who is available on weekends.

I lost my little pretzel Embah yesterday . She was the sweetest cat I had ever met. She would sit with me for hours (if i could sit still that long) she would have literally crawled inside my skin given the chance and would follow me everywhere. She wasnt sick or injured I think her heart just stopped, She was only 5 . My house isnt the same without her . You never know when someone/something doesnt wake up from their nap in the sun so hug them a little more than you did yesterday. Tomorrow is never promised.

Chess was so shy when he first started staying with us that he would hide away all day and wait for night to come out to eat . Now he is completely comfortable to come out for pats . Its so heartwarming when that happens

Its just come to my attention that there are evacuations going on again.
If you or someone you know has a cat that needs somewhere to stay my offer still stands from earlier in the year. I just ask you provide food and I am happy to look after your cat until a suitable arrangement has been made, free of charge. Hopefully everyone is staying dry today .
