A very long post! 😜

We’ve spent the entire week poured into organizing this event. With winter arriving in just a week, the farm is looking pretty tired and dormant right now, so we were absolutely thrilled to harvest the very last of our beautiful blooms for the occasion!

We also tried our hand at balloon styling for the first time—and we actually pulled it off! šŸŽˆ

But the highlight of this event? Alvin finally made his debut in catering. Not everyone knows that alongside helping me tirelessly at the farm, Alvin has run his own market-style food business, Kusinero for the last four years. He is an incredibly talented chef, and this time, he took center stage. Oh, and did I mention he’s hosting tonight, too?

I couldn’t be prouder of our duo. From the flowers and decor to the table styling, catering, and hosting, we truly poured our hearts into creating the full package. I’m just so incredibly happy to share this with you all.

I wish i have other clips and before and after photos, but this is all we’ve got after realising we didn’t take time documenting the whole process.

I just received my bare-root perennials from The Rural Florist, and I am beyond excited to see these beauties bloom!
To give them the best head start,
I’m potting them up to get them established before they hit the garden in early spring.
The Process:
• The Soak: As soon as they arrived, I soaked them for 10 minutes in a water and fish fertilizer blend (any seaweed-based fertilizer works wonders) to kickstart root development.
• The Mix: I’ve prepped a nutrient-rich potting mix enhanced with humate soil conditioner, a few handfuls of blood and bone, and vermiculite for perfect texture.
• The Planting: I filled the base of the pots, settled the plants in, and covered them completely with the mix.
• The Finish: I used the remaining soaking liquid to water them in, tagged them, and tucked them away in a sheltered spot.
Now, I just wait for that first flush of foliage before transplanting them into their forever homes

Thanks Kate for these beautiful plants!

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but in this case, it took a whole flower village to bring this floral dream to life.
The Story: Just a short while ago, a brutal storm hammered our fields, flattening my dahlias and several key blooms intended for this wedding. The anxiety was real—I worried I wouldn’t be able to deliver the magic we promised.

The Village: But the flower community showed up in the most beautiful way. A massive thank you to:
• for the stunning chrysanthemums and zinnias.
• Amy at for the perfect bronze spray foliage.
• My lovely farm neighbour Cheryl for the hydrangeas and dusty miller.
And my home neighbour Carol for some more green proteas and greeneries.
• Chantelle (Papamoa) for those incredible proteas.

Against all odds, our garden’s amaranth stayed strong, and I managed to salvage some resilient dahlias from the farm to tie it all together.

People often ask why wedding flowers cost more than a standard bouquet. This is why - We absorb the stress, navigate the elements, and lean on a vast network of experts to turn a floral dream into a seamless reality. We take on the worry so you can simply look your best on your big day.

Our books for the 2026-2027 season are officially open. DM us to start planning your dream day! 🌸

Consider this a ā€œsneak peekā€ of the magic happening behind the scenes! ✨ Given all this space we have to play with, what do you think our ā€œlittleā€ project is?

We debut in December, and the countdown is officially on! It’s going to be a wild, busy winter, but we can’t wait to show you the results.

Special shoutout to the amazing Amy from for the beautiful pittosporum bushes. Amy, your generosity knows no bounds—we love you to the moon and back! šŸŒ™

We’re actually collaborating with the Organika team on something special, arriving very soon. Stay tuned!

Headline: A bittersweet update from the farm 🌸

Is this the end of our 2025–2026 season? Honestly, it might be. After the recent storm, we’ve been facing some real challenges. Between the wind flattening plants and the constant flip-flop of rain and sun, our dahlias are struggling with bruising, rot, and s**t. Because we refuse to compromise on quality, we won’t be at the Papamoa Community Market this Sunday.

We’ve managed to salvage a few beautiful stems for bespoke bouquet orders. If you’d like a little piece of the season’s end, please send us a DM to secure a spot for this week.

Looking ahead, next weekend marks our final wedding of the season. We’re prioritizing those blooms to ensure our couple has the best we can offer, so we will miss the market again. With May approaching and the temperatures dropping, if our dahlias don’t bounce back soon, this may be our ā€œgoodbyeā€ for the season.

To our amazing regulars: You guys rock! Your support this year has meant the world to us. While we hate the idea of a sudden goodbye, please know how much we appreciate you.

But wait—we aren’t slowing down!
While the flowers are resting, we are busier than ever:
• ✨ Coming in December: A secret project we can’t wait to reveal!
• šŸ”Ŗ Workshops: Our June Tuber Division workshop is sold out, but we are considering a second date in July due to high demand.
• šŸ›’ Tuber Sale: Mark your calendars for September—our sale has moved and it’s going to be grander than ever!
• 🌱 New Beginnings: I’m collaborating with a local farmer for a seedling sale, and October marks the debut of our boutique plant nursery.
More Floral workshops, more florist collaborations, and a busy wedding season are all on the horizon. Our 2027 wedding books are already filling up—DM us to reserve your date!

So see you all soon our beautiful flower friends!

Lots of love,
Dee & Alvin xx

There’s nothing quite like the realization that a complex succession plan has truly paid off. By deliberately delaying our planting based on a schedule we’ve refined over several seasons, we married ecological cues with precise mathematics and horticultural science. These blooms are a living testament that when you defy traditional planting schemes to follow your own data-driven intuition, the results speak for themselves.

We are accepting one on one dahlia growing coaching sessions which cover theories on succession planting, understanding the dahlia plant physiology and science behind the tuber formation.

It was a privilege to host Mike from today. Having him visit the farm to see our specific cultivation theories in practice was a truly humbling experience. There is nothing quite like sharing a season’s worth of research and methodology with a fellow dahlia farmer.
