TAUPO DOG TRAINING CLUB is an associated All Breeds Society of the New Zealand Kennel Club, and approved to conduct Championship Shows in Obedience and Agility. You don’t have to be competitive, just to have a love of dogs and be prepared to put in the time for practice. The Objects Of The Club Are:
To help local owners train their dogs in basic obedience. To promote the

sport of dog training by conducting classes at different levels within the different codes, i.e. Any dog? YES. – All breeds are welcome from 5 months of age. (Puppy classes are held for puppies aged 12 weeks to 5 months subject to availability of instructors.) Handlers who graduate from Basics are then eligible to further their training in Competition Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Rally-O and Working Trials, and once dogs reach 12 months of age can begin Foundation Agility. What Will The Dog Be Taught? Acceptable behavior with other dogs and people. To walk at heel on lead. To come when called. To stay in a sit or down position on command. Who Trains The Dog? You do, within class and at least five times a week between classes. You need only to train for a few minutes each time but it must be regular. If you are not prepared to do this then you won’t get the results.

The CGC silver and gold class met down at the lakefront today for a walk and to practise some exercises specifically for this level. The dogs worked incredibly well in this new environment. It was a bit chilly for a swim, however ,most dogs took the opportunity for some water play and fun to finish off there training session. Following this was a social gathering known as the Dog and Grog Day at the two mile bay restaurant and bar. There must have been at least 20 other canines and handlers all with the same idea to have pizza, and a sneaky midday drink. Great fun had by all.

Hi everyone..I'm Catherine Elliott, the rally o instructor at the club. My dogs, Keeper and Roxy, are known to some of you. Keeper really dislikes kennels,( bit of a princess who prefers people to dogs and her own home. ) in saying that she is non reactive to other dogs. Roxy likes kennels but has limited tolerance.2 nights and she wants her home comforts . We would prefer that our fur babies have the option of staying at home so we seek a trustworthy and reliable individual who practices force-free, positive reinforcement and is an ethical animal lover to occasionally housesit and care for our dogs. The ideal candidate should not work full-time, allowing them to spend ample time in our home with the dogs. Part-time work is acceptable if the dogs' needs for companionship are met. The role may involve full-day or overnight care, sometimes up to 3-4 nights. This valued person must be physically capable of walking both dogs,( individually) covering approximately 6 km between them. And of course the all importand play time in the back yard. maintaining and respecting our home is, of course, essential. Flexibility is crucial due to uncertain scheduling. As part of their training regimen, the CGC silver and gold class practiced courteous behavior at a local cafe today, simultaneously refining loose lead walking and composure skills amidst the bustle of town streets and interactions with passersby. The dogs also displayed some great self control, in the stays, in an unfamiliar environment.

Huge thanks to the staff at Bunnings for being so welcoming of our "sniffing dogs" last night. Check out these videos taken in the garden centre. We also ran two searches in the building, the dogs did really well and enjoyed showing off their skills to the Bunnings team!

Please remember with Kennel cough doing the rounds not to fill up the water bowl at Club easiest way to spread it around with dogs sharing water. Please bring your own bowl / water to club

The following is a video of Fiona and Image's winning round with a perfect score of 100 at this weekends triple rally o show in napier. Three times in the ring, 3 qualifying rounds and of course, the win. Little baby image now has her rally title of RN before her name. This is team work at its best. Beautiful to see the relationship that these two have.

We have entered Week 2, and the weather is a bit chilly. The surroundings feature a sea of signs and the rally o teams exhibiting considerable enthusiasm . Multiple handlers and their companions can be seen in the distance attending the cgc foundation / bronze class. The simultaneous operation of two classes on one night, gives us a sense of unwavering commitment on these colder darker evenings . Well done to all quardians .
