This lovely horse has an abnormal eye. 👁️
Before his dental appointment we evaluated the blind eye to ensure it wasn’t causing pain or discomfort, and we also performed a quick check of the healthy eye to make sure no new issues were developing.

In this photo you can see a completely opaque lens, some anterior synechiae, and a small amount of chronic serous discharge. The condition appears to be an acquired cataract, possibly resulting from previous trauma or uveitis.

Just another reason to have your vet out for regular dentals. 🦷🩺

Update:
The results from the pathologist were not what I expected. They reported this was an unusual lesion, possibly an eosinophilic granuloma, or inflammation from an infection of mixed bacteria. We decided to try 10 days of antibiotics first, and to everyone's surprise, these spots had disappeared on recheck! Such a great outcome!

Having a vet out means we can do routine dentals, and biopsy and diagnose other oral issues! Waiting for results on the lesions in the throat of this guy.
