The delightful Pat came in for an assessment today after having a run in with a car last month.

It didn’t take long to relax with some treats and massage, and she particularly enjoyed posing on this block when it came to going though her home exercise plan!

Here in the Nelson Tasman region we are lucky enough to have lots of bright winter mornings! A dip in temperature can have adverse effects on our pets mobility however, particularly as they get older.

If you are seeing your pet slow down, or not have their usual get up and go, an assessment is a good place to start!

Rehabilitation patients come in all shapes and sizes, and Ajo here (a Central Asian Shepherd Dog) is currently my biggest patient. He is always keen to lie down and relax for his manual therapy and acupuncture treatments!

Giant breed dogs are particularly prone to joint issues and regular visits not only help control any pain, but also manage any compensations elsewhere.

Dogs that have lost a leg will have to work hard to compensate. Without strengthening exercises, stretches and massage most will be finding life harder than they let on.

Tui here is starting young. She required surgery to remove one of her back leg as a small puppy, however it’s never too late to get begin!

Therapaw is now offering muscloskeltal acupuncture!

Stella came in for an initial assessment this week and had acupuncture as part of her manual therapy treatment

Most dogs tolerate acupuncture very well, with little or no reaction to needle insertion. It has immediate pain relieving and mucsle relaxing effects, which can last days to weeks (depending on the nature of the problem)
