Amazing 3 days with an Equine Foundation course and Canine course completed!

Huge thank you to Camille Equine ConTact CARE - The Horses' Way for her teaching and knowledge transfer! The students could not stop saying how in-depth the courses were and the level of support provided, so thank you 🙏

Copper Creek Quarter Horses for the use of your facilities. We appreciate it a lot! We had 4 seasons in 2 days (including snow! 🥶❄️) so the covered arena and sheds came in handy!!

And to all the students, owners and demo horses - thank you! Without you these courses wouldnt happen so thank you for braving the weather & showing such great support

Until the next one! ❤️🐴🐾❤️

❤️🐴 HORSE AND RIDER SESSIONS 🐴❤️

I have had a lot of questions recently about what is involved in a mounted horse and rider session, so I thought I would do a little post about some of the things we observe when doing these!

Firstly, I have to credit Camille Nelson – without her, most of this content wouldn’t be available. The Anchor Point content is Camille Nelson for Equine ConTact C.A.R.E (Copyright 2016.)

Horse and Rider sessions are a fun way to work through anything that might be causing concerns.

From performance-based issues (Struggling to strike off in the canter on one or both reins, not tracking through with one hind leg, bouncy trot, on the forehand, not lifting through the back, etc etc), to injury based issues (lameness or bobbing in the horse but only when ridden, rider pain or tension before, during or after rides, trouble at the mounting block, etc.)

Depending on the type of session (The “tweak” and rebalance, performance or injury sessions), is what we look for and work through.

Regardless of the type of session we do, there are a few common things we are checking for Flinchlock, one of those things being the ‘Anchor Points of the Rider.’

If a horse is falling in or failing to strike off – we immediately think there is a problem in the horse. Have you ever stopped to consider just how much your horse is compensating for YOU?

Anchor points are the balance points that keep you in the saddle. If these are affected in the rider, it will affect the overall performance and move-ability of the horse (and rider!)

Thank you to my lovely model horse and rider, Maisie Holyoake

"When did you know you wanted to work on horses?"

Is a question I got from a client the other day, while I was working with a very heightened and labelled "dangerous" horse.

My answer? I dont remember. I was so young when my dad first put me on the back of my grandparents horses, that I physically dont remember that moment - but someone captured it. And I guess, as you can see in the photo, that was the moment I fell in love with horses forever ❤️🐴

By the end of the session the horse was calm, twitching, falling in and out of sleep. Yawning, kicking, chewing, blinking. And it was that moment that I said "this is why I do what I do." That horse has not reared or bucked since - the power of Flinchlock.

Horses aren't bad for no reason. They cant "create" situations. They cant just wake up and go "I'm gonna be a d!ck today." Their behaviour is a symptom of whats going on inside, and they will naturally show us how that is making them feel. Most people just refuse to listen. They label behaviours and blame the horse. They humanise things because thats easier.

Not one horse is exactly the same, so why do we keep putting them in one box? Expecting that one box to fix everything? If more modalities worked TOGETHER, that would be the ultimate outcome for the horse. I would love to work alongside vets, acupuncturists, farriers, bodyworkers of all kinds, energy workers, everyone, to find the best outcome for every individual horse.

I chose this life so I can give a voice to those who cant speak, and use my hands to help them heal themselves. Obviously my reach only goes so far, and there are things we cant do without diagnostics or medicine.

But most of the time, the horses just need someone to care enough to find out ❤️

I do this because horses deserve better.

☀️ CASE STUDY WANTED ☀️

Hi Community 👋 ❤️🐴

My name is Stacy, your local ConTact C.A.R.E Practitioner, based in Loburn North Canterbury.

Originally from South Canterbury, I moved away from this beautiful place for a long time, returning home to reside in North Canterbury in 2024 (and loving it! Even the cold 😊🥶)

Since being back, I have had the pleasure of building the most amazing client base of Human, Equine and Canine clients down here! I am so grateful, and we have experienced some hugely profound and incredible results during this time.

Over this time I have really started to hone in on my niche, which is helping people who have suffered debilitating concussions, PTSD, trauma and loss of confidence - especially horse riders from horse falls & other terrible accidents. Alongside that, helping horses that have also suffered injuries which have resulted in behavioural changes and mechanical function changes in their bodies.

ConTact C.A.R.E is brilliant for helping ANY injury/impact from ANY stage of life. We have helped release concussions from over 25 years + old (yes, they physically stick around and cause havoc in the body!) to help people remove compensatory pain and ailments in the body. Some of these have taken one session, some have taken a number of sessions - it all depends on the level of sustained injurie(s)/layers as we work through them.

I am still treating equine, performance horses and riders, non-horsey people, horse and rider sessions, Canine and loving it. But, I am on the look out for a person or two who have sustained the above injuries, who have remained "stuck" or in pain over the years.

Pain that doesnt go away with normal methods or pills? Pain, anxiety, depression, headaches, migraines, loss of confidence, stress? Breathing issues, sleep issues, etc etc. Struggling to find saddles that fit? Getting pain while riding or after riding? Struggle on one rein more than the other?

If this sounds like you, I would love to hear from you. The process will be free to you, and include a plan of sessions, documentation of each treatment and capturing progress over a 3 month period. The only thing is that the person(s) involved will agree to allow me to publish my findings (to what degree is yet to be determined.)

If this sounds like you (or if you think I could help outside of this case study) feel free to reply on here so I can message you, or DM me for more info!!

Thanks all,
Stacy

💫 Mobile treatments 💫

Can't get to me in Loburn? I offer mobile human Treatments too all over Canterbury ❤️🦴

It is very common for horse owners and riders to sneek in a cheeky session after or before their horses are seen! But you dont need to have an equine session booked, I can come to your home too 😊

As you can see, we can do it anywhere, even in the middle of the paddock with the sunset 🌅😍

Thank you Kelly for the photos!

Treated this beautiful lad last Wednesday, and on Saturday his lovely owner Kelly Grant sent me the bottom picture.

We talk about "3 days of change" a lot, being the minimum amount of time we can expect to see change as the body integrates from the session. This is an example of quite a significant improvement in just 3 days! Sometimes we get immediate change on the day, and sometimes it just takes a bit of time.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the 3-day requirement to see noticeable bodily change is linked to energetic integration and the body's natural rhythms. It generally takes 3 full diurnal cycles (72 hours) for Qi to properly circulate and settle into a new, balanced rhythm after intervention (such as a ConTact Care treatment, acupuncture or new herbal protocol etc)

Is he fixed? No. Is there still a lot of work to go? Yes. But this is why ConTact C.A.R.E makes so much sense - work through the interconnectedness of the body and systems, to find the causes. We move away from pain, and into comfort. We find the why behind the compensation workload.

Every treatment will be different, and as we remove Flinchlock, we provide the body with it's own resource to allow an unravel and softening of the bodies natural self defence & return natural function. In simple terms - we help your body help itself, we just find the right buttons to push then its all up to you. Our goal is that ultimately, you dont have to come back to see us!

Its also intentional, so we work on progress - treating every single client with a different plan. Every single human, Equine, Canine is unique - we are unique to the injuries we have sustained over time, so we shouldnt be putting everyone in the same box, treating the same symptoms or places over and over again.

These comparison photos bought a tear to my eye, and reminded me of why we do what we do ❤️🐴❤️

Thanks Kelly for allowing me to share Red's story so far!
