This shop was at The Shambles in York. York being famous for it's Cat Trail which has over 30 cat sculptures perched on rooftops and hidden in alleyways. You can take part in the local "scavenger" hunt to find them all. The tradition of a cat on a roof started in the 1920's to ward off evil spirits and frighten away rats & mice, but has evolved into a local quirky way to explore the city and learn about the history.

Not something you are likely to see back home at the cattery, but yes, here I am curtesying to the new Laird Stephen Lamont who now owns 5 Sq feet of land in the Highlands Titles Nature Reserve. By share fluke, as you don't get to chose, the plot is in the Scottish Wildcat Rehabilitation area. We thought this was very fitting, being cattery owners back home. These cats are Scotlands last remaining native cat species and there are currently less than 100 left in the wild.

A real treat for me today was seeing this family of beautiful white swans while on our Grand Canal narrowboat cruise. Mum and her five chicks (cygnet's) on the nest and Dad hovering close by. The male was attacked by a dog and has lost his flight feathers, so is a permanent resident at Stoke Bruerne. As they mate for life, the female is also now a resident as she will not leave him. When the chicks reach adolescents, Dad will (not so politely), ask them to all leave home.

Something familiar to greet me when I arrived at Hong Kong Airport. A tad larger than what we house at the cattery though.

Just a reminder that the cattery is closed for six weeks from the 30th April. We will re-open on Monday 15th June.

Wally arrived yesterday for his first visit. Unfortunately, not feeling the love as yet. 😍 I've spent time this morning explaining how thing could be worse, so hopefully he'll settle in soon and have a bite to eat.
