There are transitions and then there are Transitions. The good ones are precise, strong and balanced. This one is good for the horses that tend to “suck back” before transitions and/or …

⭐ Lucinda's Words of Wisdom ⭐

Ditch the Stirrups

It's the pushing off your stirrups that puts you, "in front of the movement", so jump a few jumps without stirrups and then put them back. Sit and ride exactly as you did without them - if you return to being ahead of the movement - then a few more jumps without.

Keep your horse in the tube (the cuddle of your legs) and keep feeling "three quarters of the horse in front of you".

A rider's job is to absorb the natural movement of the horse, and to give aids through their seat to control and enhance this movement. The rider's pelvis and hips are the interface between the partnership yet most rider specific exercise programmes seem to only target the abdominals.

BUMP CAPS
How often do you bump your head handling your horse on the ground, or in the float or even gardening?
These DO NOT replace your helmet for riding or at risk situations handling on the ground

Ok guys we are back on with coaching during Level 3! We have a COVID work plan in place and will be following the guidelines set out for operating a business/service during Level 3.

Please message to book, and we will talk you through the requirements which include using the COVID tracer app or physical record, sanitising hands, keeping a physical distance from rider (and parent if relevant).

Let us know if you would like to book!

This order is made by the Minister for COVID-19 Response under sections 11 and 15 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 in accordance with section 9 of that Act.

Here's the latest update from Equestrian Sports NZ regarding coaching. So unfortunately we are unable to offer any coaching until we move to Alert Level 2. We are however still here if you need any advice or help over the phone! Let's hope we can move to level 2 soon 🐎

To all Coaches,

Sport NZ in their latest alert level update advised that personal trainers and professional coaches should work from home and use online and video conferencing facilities to deliver their training.

You may remember during the last lockdown that under level 3 (and as per the MPI website) that Coaches and trainers were permitted travel to provide horse riding lessons, as long as relevant infection control measures are applied, including physical distancing requirements, and the service is provided in the same, or a nearby, region with the same alert level.

Advice has been sought from MPI and they are in the process of updating their revised advice in light of the Covid-19 Health Order, but they agree with Sport NZ’s advice.

Therefore, given that the overriding purpose of Alert Level 3 and 4 is that everyone stays at home to reduce the spread of COVID-19 unless they are accessing or providing an essential service. Riding lessons are not considered a necessary activity under Alert Level 3 or 4 for the purpose of animal care and must not continue to operate.

We have updated our ESNZ Alert Level plan to take into account this change:
