This year is absolutely racing by! Christmas is getting alarmingly close 🎅
Are you going away over the festive season? Now is a great time to make sure your pets ID tags are all up to date!
Between being in a different environment, fireworks, celebrations and other loud noises it is a common time for pets to go missing. Having your phone number on your pet’s tag is hands down the fastest way to get them back to you.
Leaving your pet at home with a pet sitter? Make sure your pet has the sitter’s phone number on them too in case you aren’t contactable while you’re away
It’s also a great time to check your pet’s microchip details are all up to date. Make sure they are registered on the NZCAR (New Zealand Companion Animal Register), this means any vet clinic or shelter around the country will be able to find your details.
Typically when a microchip is inserted it is registered with the vet clinic who implanted it and your specific council. Other clinics and councils won’t have access to your contact details. This means if you are in another area and your pet is missing, it makes it very hard for someone to find your details even if your pet is microchipped!
The NZCAR is the best way around this as it is a national database and makes it super easy to get in contact with you no matter where your pet is picked up around the country!
A quick and easy way to help make sure your pet will be safe and sound over the silly season 🎄
