Mac keeps opening up his leg wound and has only had the cone off a few days this week when I’m home and he is supervised. Went to the vet yesterday and he now has an ointment called Wound Repair that will aid in his wound recovery, but he has to wear a cone for the next month to enable his skin not to be so thin and for the hair to grow.

Last month I discovered a lump on Mac’s front leg. He had surgery last week for cancer. The lump was through the middle of a vein that ran the length of his leg and so the vein had to be re-rooted. Had to wait a week for the results to see if it was an aggressive form of cancer. In the meantime Mac’s foot has swelled up requiring further bandaging and yesterday while I was at work Mac worked on removing most of the bandage in his leg requiring a trip back to the vet for another bandage and a collar to stop it happening again. Needless to say he is on a lot of medication as he recovers. So life has been a bit of a roller coaster this past week, but today I got the news that it’s a nerve lipomatosis - fatty tumour. The best news and I am so grateful.

Mac and I have recently moved to Timaru from country life in Pleasant Point and he’s enjoying a walk in the nearby park after setting off six neighbouring dogs to barking at him. With the sea also close by, Mac will have regular walks on the beach over the winter months
