Years in the making, but we finally have a sand arena! With ponies going to the breakers soon and our big horses coming back into work - it’s perfect timing. Isn’t our digger man just fab!

Waikato All Breeds Winter Show

Our season was suppose to be all wrapped up, but Waimai Spring Rose (Claudia) has been hanging by the gate thinking she should still be going to shows, so Laura, Claudia and I (Tegan) headed off to Claudelands for our first solo show without mum.

I have just been so pleased with how this filly has shown this season, she loved it and everytime I ask for her ‘big girl trot’ she just gets better and better. She worked lovely all day to win every one of her classes in the Welsh section, even giving me a perfect show to win the Handler class and finished with a reserve champion purebred youngstock.

Then it was off to do our Mountain & Moorland classes in the Horses of Europe section (how fun was this section!) where she went one better winning Champion Youngstock. With that she got a spin in the Grand Champion Youngstock classes, she was knackered but still did showed so well and coped lovely in the big class. She was falling asleep in the ring so we scratched from the senior handler championship and headed home.

A huge thank you to our sections sponsors, HBS - Hughes Bloodstock & Welsh Cobs and Hare Hill Horses NZ, for getting behind the show. Also to Tracy and her fabulous team of helpers and judges for a lovely day and a well run show. AND of course Laura who was #1 Groom 🫶

Doesn’t Waimai Purple Rain (Prince) look smart all dolled up for the NZ Showing Champs.

Congratulations to the Roach family for having him looking just fabulous!

North Island Welsh Pony & Cob Show

The last show of the season and as we look back at the last couple months, we’ve just loved having our girls out - it’s been quite a few years since we have properly campaigned ‘Waimai Stud’, and this season was one for the books.

Waimai Royal Portrait (Lola) started the day in a big Dry Mare class and she was the ultimate show girl, she finished with a strong third. She then came out to do her NZ Purebred class (another huge class) and she earnt herself second place against all the sections.

Waimai Spring Rose (Claudia) and Waimai Purple Rain (owned by Lisa & Chloe Roach) made me so proud as a breeder, standing Champion and Reserve Section A Youngstock. Then to have Prince and Lola stand 2nd & 3rd in the NZ Purebred class was super special.

To round off the day our resident one in a million stallion, Ascot Perlow, still bringing home the trophies (even when he’s retired at home in the paddock) with Lola and Prince winning Perlow the Stallion Progeny AND then Claudia and Prince won Cloudburst the Mare Progeny.

Thank you to the committee, the judges, the lovely ring stewards and the awesome sponsors for a great day out.

A big thank you to Ellie, she brought these ponies on so well and loved them like her own. They are a true credit to all your hard work. We missed you at the show 🥲

We have loved being back on the show circuit and catching up with friends. It’s a shame with no HOY, the welsh section misses out on a ‘title class’ - bigger shame to know that all the beautiful trophies from the lovely sponsors will not be given out.

Now the winter wait for my first crop of foals from Vanace Titanium, bringing the big horses on, and letting the ponies have a big holiday on the hills.

A busy couple of weeks at Waimai with Pukekohe A&P, puppies finding new homes and Helensville A&P yesterday!

It had been years since we’ve been to both shows and with how busy the rings were (lawnmower races one show, next to the cowboy challenge the next) the girls certainly had to put their brave pants on.

Franklin A&P Show

Waimai Spring Rose (Claudia) earning herself Reserve Youngstock Purebred Welsh after a win in her Yearling A class.

Waimai Royal Portrait (Lola) won her Section A Dry Mare class and stood Reserve Champion A Adult to a lovely gelding. With how hectic the show started for the girls, we made sure to finish on a good note. There is no point in pushing the young ponies when they have such an exciting show career ahead of themselves.

It was lovely to see W. Purple Rain (Prince) in the led pony, he was looking fabulous all done up. We are so pleased he has found a great home.

Helensville A&P Show

W. Royal Portrait was a little unsettled in the first class, settling for second to the lovely gelding she was reserve too the week before.

W. Spring Rose turned it on in the ring. Winning her yearling class, then went on to win Champion Purebred Youngstock. She then got a spin the supreme (purebreds and Partbreds were upgainst each other) and her first walk round was just gorgeous. She finished second to the youngstock Partbred and the judge said “this filly was my Supreme Purebred”. Claudia is Perlows last foal and what a special girl she is.

The highlight of the weekend had to be the movement and manners class at Helensville. Claudia finished 1st and Lola, expertly showed by mum was 2nd. Was so much fun to show together again.

Thank you to the show organisers for putting on the welsh sections, the sponsors of the classes/championships and the judges! Also thank you to Tracee & Leanne for these lovely pictures.

We own mum (Ruby) and dad (Fergus), and not to be bias but they are just the best dogs. Great around horses, stock, other dogs. We haven’t had the time, but both come from good duck dog lines and have shown some keenness around the Dam (they love water).

We have 4 boys and 1 girl (all liver and white) available.

Puppies:
Light Pink - Girl
Orange - Boy
Light green - Boy
Dark green - Boy
Blue - Boy

They will have their first vaccinations before they leave for their new home.
