Welcome to Needlenose Hound Services, the experienced hired help and homestays exclusively for retired greyhounds We offer local walking and home visits too.

Our mission is to provide expert, experienced, loving care to your hound during their stay with us. Your hound will be part of our existing greyhound families and will live inside at all times, we are a true homestay. Access to 20 acres of greyhound safe paddocks and oodles of walks means plenty of exercise is available and a dedicated greyhound "recreation" paddock is well used for zoomies and so

cial fun and play. Our daystays are a structured enjoyable day of walking, lounging and socialising and they are great for the shy hound to find their feet. We love greyhounds and take our job seriously, safe secure surroundings and great company is what we provide. Our team of 5 homestay locations are always with your hound 24/7. Our pick up/drop off service is well utilised and our flexibility accommodates all your requirements. We've had Needlenose regular Ally (Cavallucio) staying for 6 weeks🥰 She's a special girl who knows exactly what she wants and what time to do it, she loves sleeping in, dashing out quickly, roaching and country sniffaris. Love a girl who marches to the beat of her own drum 🐾🎶 see you again soon Ally.

Beautiful Leon (Chokko) had a greyt weeken at our new Ōtaki Beach base. He loved the toys, but new Ground Crew Lola wanted to play 😅

The Ōtaki Old Timers Care Home recently hosted Needlenose OG Opie (Opawa Shay) who's always a favourite 🖤. Beautiful regular Graham (Loose Donald) popped in for a couple of nights and the Gorgeous Floofy Henry (Electric Dee Eye) enjoyed a short stay too. 💛 Brum Bum likes having his peers around to chew the fat with.

Beautiful Maddie (Allegro Maddie) has gone home after 6 weeks with us, she's been a fantastic spinny, couch loving foodie to have around. Joining us along the way is Ally (Cavallucio) and Katy B (Kay Tuesso) popped by for the weekend 🖤🖤🩶

GREYHOUND RECREATION PADDOCK
With so many new hounds finding homes, it’s timely to let you all know that we have a exclusive safe & secure paddock (wood fencing) with trees & gazebo that you can bring your hound & allow off leash to practice recall & safe zoomies. This resource is free to use plus there’s a lovely hilly bush walk & flat farm walk on leash. A great place to be safe initially rather than the beach & dog parks which need to be avoided in the early days while bonding with your hound.
You can also arrange your own play dates.

There is often training sessions held at Needlenose by The Greyhound Guru (check out page) for new owners or owners needing help.

This area is also available to greys travelling up and down the islands as a pitstop as we are only 35-40mins out off Wellington.

All you need to do is message/text and we will ensure it’s all clear & advise how to enter.

Goodest boy Alfie enjoyed a winter staycation at Waikanae Beach along with KatyB and Flash. Alfie is a wonderfully calm and gentle soul who enjoyed socialising with his mates and hoomin hosts. He made the most of every opportunity for adventure, rain or shine, without complaint although he had to be bribed to get out of the car at the end!

The demand for our elite services has grown hugely and as more greyhounds get rehomed we require more experienced owners to expand our current bases.
If you are passionate about providing superior specialised care in your home and meet the following criteria, we would love to talk to you!
🐾 Experienced Greyhound owner (s) of at least 2 years, either now or in the recent past.
🐾 At home during the day.
🐾 No other dog breeds.
🐾 No cats or other pets
🐾 No children under 14 at home.
🐾 Fully fenced section.
🐾 Greyhounds must be able to stay indoors with you.
We offer a supportive team environment with regular meetups. There may also be opportunities for daystays, visits and walks in your area.
