Who will be caring for your furbabies while you're away...?
β
My name is Jena and I am an animal lover, through and through.
β
From an early age, I was that kid who brought home stray dog, injured birds and I began my own pet care βbusinessβ when I was 12 called Pet Patrol, where I walked peopleβs dogs, fed their cats and looked after some mice in my bedroom.
In college, I did my work experience at the SPCA and when I moved out of home, began fostering.
β
For HUHA, I looked after dogs and puppies, ones who needed extra care and TLC. β
I checked their temperament, feeding habits, how they were with children and cats.
β
For the SPCA, I fostered cats and kittens, specialising in kittens with Calici and Giardia. β Both required extra medical attention, daily weight checks, medications, creams and the like.
β
In 2012 I completed my Certificate in Animal Care via correspondence while working full time in Wellington city. β I then took a job at a Vet Clinic to further my knowledge and experience while studying vet nursing. β There I learnt how to give subcutaneous fluid injections, pill cats and dogs, clip nails, check for general illness and injuries.
β
I began working part time for an in home pet care company, feeding pets, walking dogs, meeting new clients and house sitting while the owners were away. β When the owner went on maternity leave, I covered full time for 8 months.
β
Once I was no longer needed, I missed it so much that I started my own in-home pet care business!
β
For 5 years, I ran Furry Poppins full time, covering from Pukerua Bay to Wellington City.
Then came Covid. β Puppy visits and dog walking were no longer needed when owners were on lockdown. β So, I made the heartbreaking decision to close down my beloved business. β π’
β
Iβm so excited to be starting back up and canβt wait to care for your precious furbabies! β β ππ₯°
