Yay Renee! So proud of what Renee has been doing for our clients! It’s not uncommon to dread the vet- he’s a way you can help your pet feel more comfortable and engaged with their visits!

For many animals, a trip to the vet can be overwhelming – strange smells, unfamiliar people, restraint and needles can all add up to fear, anxiety and stress.

At Massey University’s Companion Animal Hospital, veterinary nurse and behaviour enthusiast Renee Greenwood is changing that experience through Purely Pawsitive – a programme built around positive visits, gentle handling and helping animals feel safe and confident in the clinic environment.

Through structured nurse consults using counterconditioning, positive reinforcement and desensitisation, Renee helps address specific fears or prevents young pets from developing them in the first place. The result? Improved welfare for pets, reduced stress for owners and safer, more effective veterinary care for everyone involved.

One standout success? A pug who once needed sedation for every nail trim – now calmly holding still and waiting patiently for chicken!

Read the full story to learn how Purely Pawsitive is setting pets up for lifelong veterinary success and helping shape the future of low-stress veterinary care:
