Dr Sharon May-Davis is coming back to NZ !!!
We are proud to present (now) Two Standing Dissection Clinics in NZ 6th to 8th and the 11th to 13th JULY 2024. The remaining placements are now available for registration.
ECVM was first discovered by Australian ''bone lady'' Dr Sharon May-Davis. This is the link to her original scientific research paper written in 2013https://www.ecvmallbreeds.com/_files/ugd/c73cb2_3c84a271445e4e57b16fa1295beeb39b.pdf
The unique standing dissection is without a doubt, one of the most innovative ways to present equine anatomy and biomechanics. Each participant will be able to view all angles of the horse and be able to palpate directly from left and right anatomical features in a comparative format as the horse reveal's itself layer by layer. This is an invaluable lesson like no other.
The biomechanics of the limbs are further enhanced when mobility becomes available. The standing dissection allows for a greater range of movement and therefore how the limb influences the upper body whilst in motion.
The standing horse also allows for a much greater understanding and ability for practical sessions with regards to saddle fitting.
All of Dr May-Davis research papers are free to the public after scientific peer review.
We learn about holistic management from Sharon as one of Australia’s leading experts in the biomechanics & musculo-skeletal system of the equine. This has included Australian Champions from 6 different disciplines: Eventing, Dressage, Endurance, Show-jumping, Reining and Vaulting.
Sharon has done a great deal of research into the congenital abnormalities associated with the equine skeleton particularly in relation to the thoroughbred horse. She has published many articles and continues her research both in Australia
Sharon’s passion for anatomy began at just 14 years of age and began equine dissecting at 35. Within this time she completed Bachelor of Applied Science (Equine), and later her Masters, along with many other Equine therapy courses and her Ph D.
