Goodnight Bluebell 🩵

A couple days ago we lost the most beautiful soul. Bluey was the most precious little pet, she had such a bold and lovable personality. She was the first pig we ever bought in the South Island, she was the first pig I ever took to a cavy show. Thanks to her, I found my love for the cavy fancy world as well as pet showing. Bluebell has been such an important part of Firestar for so many reasons. She is such a beautiful girl and I am so incredibly grateful to have been in the right place at the right time in order to pick her up and bring her home.

My earliest memory with Bluey was when we brought her home. We set up a playpen on the grass to bond her to our two sows at the time. She was so tiny, I put her down in the playpen and she just zipped out between the wire straight away without even stopping for a second! We were so lucky we managed to catch her! She was always very small but very bossy, very much the leader of her herd.

You are such a beautiful girl Bluebell, and you’ll always be a winner (even if the judges never thought so) 🩵🦋🕊️

I might end up finding a new home for the one on the far right as he just isn’t good enough for showing or breeding. His brother (one in the middle) is far better. I’m not a massive fan of the sow between them but she’s too valuable as she doesn’t have a crest and I’m trying to get more without crests. She’s not actually that bad, it’s just those ears 😭

It feels like such a massive achievement to come reserve in show with a cavy that I bred myself and I am so thrilled! A massive thank you to Jodie for judging and Joan for taking over the show paperwork and everyone for organising a really good event. Also massive congratulations to Jenny with her Best In Show self black who was just fantastic!

Tweed bubs, almost three weeks old now. This is the last of my Tweed breeding as I have made the choice to move on and put my focus into my other breeds. This is a boar and a sow and they will eventually be available for new homes once they are old enough. I will also have pretty much the rest of my Tweeds available as well. These guys are so sweet, the sow has plenty to say and the boar was just pancaking on the show board ❤️
