British Bella's - British Shorthair Cats NZL

British Bella's - British Shorthair Cats NZL Registered NZCF breeder of British Shorthair kittens based in the Kapiti Coast, Wellington, NZ. Solid colour, bi colour, torties & tri-colours

COLOURS: Chocolate, fawn, blue, lilac, cinnamon, black, red, cream. Hello, I'm Wendy a registered breeder of British Shorthair. I specialise in breeding chocolates, blues, blacks and lilac's. I have recently imported the first cinnamon BSH into NZ. 2018 will see me produce some new colours not currently available elsewhere in NZ. I only have a small number of queens and therefore only have a limi

ted number of kittens available each season with each queen only having 1-2 litters per year. I have spent the last few years improving my bloodlines and I've worked hard to ensure I'm producing kittens that I can be proud of. My kittens go off to their new homes at around age 12-13wks. They are all desexed (no exceptions), had both vaccinations and are up to dated with current flea and worm treatment. They also come with and kitten pack and a 2kg bag of royal canin kitten biscuits. kittens are sold as pets only. Please PM me for price info,. My kittens mean more to me than just the money so I reserve the right to refuse a sale without reason and/or cancel a sale without reason.

We’re looking forward to the safe arrival of more little ones this coming week 🐾 This time it’s a BONNIE & TRAEGER combination, and we’re very excited to see what these two produce.

*FUN FACT: Although Bonnie and Harper are both lilac bi-colours, what they carry genetically is a little different. Bonnie has the potential to produce fawn, lilac and/or blue kittens, while fawn wasn’t possible for Harper as she doesn’t carry the cinnamon gene.
So how do we know what’s hiding behind their colours? We DNA test our breeding cats. Along with finding out which colour genes they carry, we test for things such as PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) and their blood type.
Our DNA samples are actually sent all the way to Langford in the UK for testing, so there’s a little more involved behind the scenes than you might imagine!

Proud parents Harper & Traeger welcomed a little brother and sister duo yesterday. After a nice, relatively easy birth, Mum and her two little juniors are doing very well. 🥰
A lovely start to our new kitten season.

Here's our little keeper.... Bella-Bear🌸🌸🌸.
Not only do I think she's gorgeous, but she also has the most incredible personality. I said to Warren that we should've called her Floppy, as you can do anything with her. As soon as you walk into the room, she's over to climb on your knee. She's a real sweetheart💕

Our cream bi colour boy is staying with us until mid-September while his new paw-rents finish up a pre-booked holiday. I have to say, he is an absolute dream. He honestly sleeps better than a newborn baby, plays so gently, and waits patiently for us to wake up before starting his morning playtime.

What a show! A hugely successful day for so many, and some absolutely beautiful cats on the bench. It was a special Memorial Show for the late Marion Petley, British Shorthair breeder.
I heard it said that this was possibly the best line-up of "blues" seen on the show bench for around 10 years, which certainly gave the judges some difficult decisions to make!

At one point I overheard someone behind me say, “These cats are used to it,” as though being at a show was just another day for the cats. It actually made me smile, because nothing could be further from the truth. Traeger and Flame live a pretty cruisy life at home in their cat chalets. They aren’t accustomed to being handled by strangers, surrounded by lots of unfamiliar cats, noise and commotion, and with shows few and far between in the Lower North Island, they certainly aren’t seasoned show cats.
Traeger hadn't been on a show bench for around 18 months. He’s now nearly four, an entire stud boy and definitely a much more mature, alpha male than the younger Traeger who last went showing. Flame is my lap cat, but he isn't particularly confident around strangers and being picked up has never been his favourite thing. I spent the last month doing what I could to prepare both boys for show day, while knowing that if either of them wasn't coping, I would pull them from judging.

So before we even get to their results, I came home incredibly proud of them both. They coped far better than I anticipated.
I don't think Flame will be returning to the show bench, it really isn't his thing, but he did me proud, and what a way to finish!

And now for those results...

Two boys. Two Best in Shows!
For boys who aren't seasoned show cats, I really couldn't have asked for more.

Florence 😺looked outside this morning and was very relieved when I told her, her ✈️ is tomorrow not today. It’s been blowing a gale off and on.
She’s thrilled to know she’ll have some British Bella 😼😻siblings to race around with and her new M&D are going to let her sleep in their big bed, just like she does here… phew said Florence ! 😅

Here are the last photos of all three boys together before two go off on an adventure. Can you believe all three kittens will be living in Christchurch! The cream bi colour boy will stay here for an extra month, as the new purr-ents had a holiday booked. The red and cinnamon boys will get to share a flight to the Garden City tomorrow. The new owners can't wait, and who can blame them!!!
