Little Luke with spots so bright,
Visited Kōwhai Vet today,
Brave and curious at first sight,
Then sleepiness drifted his way.

Curled up on the consult room chair,
Soft and warm without a care,
Tiny snores and floppy paws,
Melting hearts with every pause.

Vaccines done, cuddles complete,
Dreaming softly, snug and sweet.

💛 It's all thanks to you! 💛

We've just completed another month of our 'Skip PayWave, Support a Cause' initiative.
We're grateful to everyone who joined in, enabling us to make a donation to charity.
Instead of tapping with PayWave, many of you made the conscious decision to help us support charity instead - by dropping a token in a jar.

As promised, we'll be donating the equivalent of these avoided PayWave fees to the charity with the most tokens - making a difference together.

🎉 The charity winner for April was South Island Wildlife Hospital and the donation cost was $100.

Thank you for getting behind this initiative with such enthusiasm. Let's continue to turn small change into big impact throughout 2026!

We’re celebrating a very special achievement from our own Dr. Jane Jones.

Jane has recently been published in the New Zealand Veterinary Journal for her qualitative research paper:

“Experiences of Māori Veterinarians and Vet Nurses in the Veterinary Sector in Aotearoa New Zealand”

Supported through funding from the Otago Polytechnic School of Veterinary Nursing, this research involved interviewing Māori veterinarians and veterinary nurses about their experiences working within the veterinary sector in Aotearoa.

We’re incredibly proud to see Jane contributing meaningful research that helps strengthen understanding, representation, and conversations within our profession.

Congratulations Jane - a wonderful achievement and an important contribution to veterinary medicine in New Zealand 💛

Gone are the days of hunting for that little vaccine book before vet visits, boarding kennels or daycare visits.

We use MyRover - a digital vaccine and health record system. MyRover is a simple, secure way to keep your pet’s vaccination information right on your phone or computer. When your pet receives a vaccination, we record these details on your behalf.

❌ No more lost books
❌ No more trying to decipher handwriting to figure out when the next vaccine is due.

With MyRover you can:
🔹Access your pet’s vaccination records
🔹Share records with kennels, groomers etc
🔹Keep everything safely stored in one place
🔹Receive reminders when vaccines are due

Physical vaccine books are being phased out, with digital records becoming the new standard for easier, more reliable access to your pet’s healthcare information.

If you haven’t set up MyRover yet, chat to our team and we can help get you started.

An armful of Labradors, sleepy and sweet,
Big floppy ears tumbling over clumsy feet.
First trip to the vet - so much to see,
New smells, new faces, tails wagging free.

A cuddle here, a gentle poke there,
Wrapped up safely in loving care.
Brave little hearts for needles so small,
Quick treats and cuddles rewarded them all.

Health checks completed, vaccines all done,
Now back to their mischief, chaos, and fun.
Back home they tumble to wrestle and play,
Growing a little more each and every day.

Not all nursing care fits in a textbook 💛
For adorable puppy Jade, recovery after surgery looked like a soft blanket, plenty of reassurance, and a cosy spot on nurse Bri’s lap.

Creating a calm and caring experience is something our team cares deeply about and it's at the heart of everything we do.
