πΎβ€οΈ PIPER IS SAFE β BUT 7 DOGS STILL NEED US β€οΈπΎ
10 DOGS. 10 SOULS. 1 CHANCE.
We have some wonderful news to share. π
When we first became involved with these dogs, we honestly didn't know what their future would look like. They had spent their lives living outside in the forest, many chained, with very little human interaction or the comforts that most of our dogs take for granted.
But slowly things are changing. β€οΈ
Three of the dogs now have homes lined up, and we have continued receiving enquiries from some amazing people wanting to help.
And then something happened that we really weren't expecting...
One of the girls gets to stay with CopperCat Rescue at the farm in Hokianga Far North. π₯Ήβ€οΈ
Her name was Pat β but we have renamed her Piper.
The name Piper seemed absolutely perfect for her because it represents a whimsical, playful, free spirit with an energetic personality β and that is this girl through and through. ππΎ
From the beginning, Piper has been one of the dogs who would whimper and call to us whenever we approached. She desperately wanted attention and affection. It often felt as though she was saying:
"Please... take me with you."
Well, Piper... we heard you. β€οΈ
For now, she has moved into the enclosed catio extension beside the house β much to the horror of the pussycats, who have temporarily lost access to it! πΉπ
We've put a large dome kennel inside with lovely warm blankets, and seeing Piper actually go inside, curl up and realise that this little space belongs to her was incredibly special.
This isn't her permanent accommodation. Malpaz will be building our girl a proper kennel and secure area of her own. ππ¨π But for the moment she is safe, warm, close to us and getting something she has needed for a very long time:
Human company. Kindness. Security. Love.
And now the work of helping Piper learn how to be a much-loved family dog really begins. β€οΈ
But Piper is only one of the ten.
πΎ 7 DOGS STILL NEED HOMES. πΎ
We are still urgently looking for:
β€οΈ Permanent adopters
β€οΈ Foster homes β particularly people able to help socialise dogs who haven't experienced normal family life
β€οΈ Experienced dog people willing to help
β€οΈ Dog rescue organisations with resources or contacts
β€οΈ People who can simply SHARE THEIR STORY
These dogs didn't choose the lives they were born into.
And despite everything, we are discovering affectionate, funny, curious little personalities underneath it all. They are learning that hands can bring pats, bowls can contain food, voices can mean kindness β and people can be friends.
Piper's life has just changed.
Now we need to make that happen for the other seven. π₯ΉπΎβ€οΈ
Please share this post far and wide throughout New Zealand. Somewhere out there are the people these dogs have been waiting for.
10 DOGS. 10 SOULS. 1 CHANCE.
πΎ They didn't choose their beginning.
β€οΈ Together, we can choose their future.
