💕 A little PL Performance Horses reunion at Otago Show Jumping! 🐴

PL Victoria’s Secret (Secret) with Kimberleigh McCabe and PL Flying Spur (Bentley) with me catching up at prize giving — and clearly both had their competitive pants on!

🌟 Secret took out the Amateur win 🥇 while Bentley wasn’t far behind, picking up 2nd place 🥈

Lovely to see these two reunited at the prizegiving and flying the PL flag in style! 💗

A little recognition for PL Sizzle N Sass! 🌟

A lovely surprise to receive this beautiful plaque from the New Zealand Warmblood Association, recognising PL Sizzle N Sass as a 2026 Show Jumping Horse of Distinction nominee! 🏆🐴

By Grandorado TN, out of a Ramirez x Graf Landau mare, Sizzle is a lovely example of the breeding we’re so passionate about here at Petticoat Lane Performance Horses.

As breeders, we put an enormous amount of time, thought (and money! 🤣) into producing these horses, so it’s especially rewarding to see them out competing and doing what they were bred to do.

A huge thank you to Maygen Gubb for doing such a wonderful job with Sass. It’s always exciting to watch one of our homebreds out there flying the PL flag! 💗🖤

And thank you to NZWB for recognising the breeders behind these horses. It’s a lovely reminder that all those breeding decisions, sleepless foaling nights and years of hard work are worth it! 🥂

☀️ A little sunshine, a good scratch and some quality time with your mates! 🐴💕

PL Flying Spur, PL Grandiose, PL Truffle and Colorado HS making the most of a beautiful sunny day.

This is exactly why we love paddocking our horses together. Horses are herd animals, and there’s nothing quite like watching them relax, socialise and enjoy a bit of mutual grooming. 🥰

Because sometimes the best grooming session doesn’t involve a brush… just a good mate who knows exactly where the itchy spots are! 😂💕

Aren’t these two handsome young gentlemen! 😍🐴

PL Armani & PL Swarovski — two of our gorgeous yearling boys, growing up beautifully and certainly not short on good looks or breeding!

💕 PL Armani – Grandorado TN × Cachassini II

💕 PL Swarovski – Ken Owen’s GNZ × Heartbreaker TN

Some seriously exciting show jumping bloodlines wrapped up in two very handsome packages!

They’ve certainly got the pedigrees and the looks — now we just have to hope they’ve inherited the talent to match! 🤞😂💕

Same jump, four very different horses, and four very different stages of the journey 💕🐴

A little snapshot from show day at camp of my own team — from the more experienced campaigners through to the youngsters who are still figuring out what this whole show jumping business is about 😂

🐴 PL Flying Spur (Bentley) — Eldorado van de Zeshoek x AEA Dutchboy
🐴 Colorado HS (Rockstar) — Cachassini II
🐴 PL Grandiose (Posh) — Grandorado TN x I’m Special de Muze
🐴 PL Truffle — Chopano VA x Contendros 2 x Caretino

I love seeing them all over the exact same fence — different experience, different styles and definitely different personalities, but each doing their job at the level they’re ready for. 💗

And yes… Bentley is the sweaty one 😂 That’s enthusiasm, not overwork — he was VERY excited to be back out jumping and was more of a hot mess than me. 🤦‍♀️💦

Four horses, one fence and a pretty good reminder of why I didn’t need to add Coco to my riding list as well 😂🙈

🌸 Apparently rugs off = game on! 💨😂

Four-year-olds PL Prada and PL Coco Mademoiselle were feeling very pleased with themselves this spring morning. Rugs off, sun shining… and absolutely no intention of quietly enjoying it! 🤦‍♀️🐎💨

🤎 PL Prada — For Friendship VDL × Zambesi TN
🖤 PL Coco Mademoiselle (the dark one) — I’m Special de Muze TN × Escudo I

A bit of fresh spring grass, sunshine on their backs and a good hoon around the paddock — apparently all the ingredients required for complete happiness. 🌷☀️💕

Four-year-old girls just having fun… and reminding us that spring is finally here! 🌸

✨ PL Truffle ✨

Just four years old and absolutely loving her jump training indoors. 🩷

Truffle is going from strength to strength — brave, careful, naturally athletic and making everything feel pretty easy at this stage. It’s so exciting watching these young horses start to show you what might be there for the future. 🌟

Beautifully bred Chopano VDL × Contendros 2 × Caretino, she certainly has the pedigree to back up the talent.

And before anyone asks… this one is NOT for sale. 😂🩷 She’s staying firmly in the PLPH team!

✨ NZWA Horse of Distinction Awards ✨

A huge congratulations to all the breeders recognised in the NZWA Horse of Distinction Awards for Show Jumping and Show Hunter. 🏆🐴

Breeding horses certainly isn’t always the easiest game — there are plenty of highs, lows, sleepless nights, disappointments and a whole lot of patience involved! So it’s really lovely to see breeders acknowledged for the horses they have bred and the success those horses go on to achieve. 💕

We were very proud to see PL Sizzle N Sass amongst the nominees. A special congratulations and thank you to Maygen Gubb, who has done such a fantastic job producing and competing her. As a breeder, there’s nothing better than seeing a horse you bred out there doing well and enjoying their job with a great rider. 🥰

Congratulations again to all the breeders, owners and riders involved — it takes a team to turn those carefully planned pedigrees and baby horses into successful performance horses! 🥂🐴

🏆 NZWA HORSE OF DISTINCTION AWARDS 2026 - SHOWJUMPING & SHOWHUNTER🏆

Since 2021, the New Zealand Warmblood Association has proudly presented our annual Horse of Distinction Awards, recognising outstanding New Zealand-bred Warmbloods performing across Showjumping, Eventing and Dressage.

This week we’ll announce our 2026 Horse of Distinction in each discipline - one each night - while also celebrating all of the horses whose performances earned them a nomination.

First up… SHOWJUMPING & SHOWHUNTER

And we’re fairly certain this one will surprise absolutely no one! 😄

🌟 **2026 NZWA SHOWJUMPING HORSE OF DISTINCTION**
🏆 LT HOLST FREDA🏆 (Colman / Casall / Lavaletto)

What a year for this exceptional New Zealand-bred mare.

LT Holst Freda won the World Cup Series in NZ before jetting off to Europe and then USA where she umped her way onto the world stage at the World Cup Finals. What a fantastic representation of the quality of sport horses being bred right here in New Zealand. 🇳🇿

Ewen Macintosh, as breeder of LT Holst Freda, will receive the beautiful Horse of Distinction crystal trophy, proudly sponsored this year by MVS EquiBreed – leaders in equine reproduction.

The Horse of Distinction Awards celebrate exceptional performance, but at their heart they are about recognising the breeders behind the horses - the people who made the mating decisions and produced the athletes we now see succeeding in sport.

🏷️ Please help us spread the word!
If you know any of the breeders listed above, please tag them in the comments or share this post with them. Not everyone follows our page, and we would love to make sure every breeder knows their horse has been recognised amongst this year’s outstanding nominees.

Congratulations to Ewen and everyone connected with the remarkable LT Holst Freda, and congratulations to every breeder represented in our 2026 Showjumping Horse of Distinction nominations. 🏆🇳🇿

Tomorrow night: our 2026 Eventing Horse of Distinction.
