First handling sessions for baby Vonita. She's a 'walk out of the womb cuddly' model and so far appears very brave, so is not too phased by any of this though she is a bit indignant it's not all on her terms. Can you see her poor wee muddy feet, we have had a huge amount of rain over the last week and it has turned our paddocks briefly to mud. However the grass should belt out of the ground now and we are hoping to get lots mown in the next week.

We are thrilled at the safe arrival of this super filly. She is by Premium Celle stallion Von und Zu (Vitalis/Floriscount) out of Fern (Fugato/Gymnastic Star).
It's a long wait now till our 2nd foal which is due beginning of Dec.

Hooray New Season Baling has started. We have cut this beautiful sward of predominantly cocksfoot, very low clover today. So we will soon have new season haylage available. At the moment the grass is belting out of the ground but we are nervously waiting to see what El Nino has in store for us. Fingers crossed for a better growing season than last year.

Just a quick update from us. Like lots of small businesses staying alive means revaluating and making changes as the environment changes. It has become increasingly apparent that small individual feed deliveries are not sustainable and we have had to make the tough decision to raise our minimum delivery price to $200.

The freight side of the business is continuing to increase particularly for vehicles and more awkward bulky objects and we are regularly running between Canterbury, Southland and Central Otago to meet these requests.

We are continuing to make our beautiful FibreSafe Hay Pellet range. We have Balcairn Stockfoods, Warrens Equine and Burwood Produce all stocking our FibreSafe Range in the Christchurch area and are looking for other stockists who are interested in supporting the range.

*Broodmare Appreciation Post*
Our beautiful foundation throughbred mare Smitten has weaned her last foal and is now officially retired. She had two foals before joining us at Whiterocks and has gone on to have 6 stunning foals for us. 3 colts and 3 filllies, 4 bays, 1 chestnut and 1 black. The sweetest girl herself and the best mum. Her foals were all exquisite and inherited her love of people and high energy work ethic. Thankfully we have retained her daughter Fanfaire as a very valuable replacement for her mother. She has big shoes to fill.
Enjoy your retirement darling Smits.

Whiterocks Cadence has been weaned and has already headed off to her new home in Christchurch. She has a very excited new owner who tells me Cadence is her dream horse and she can't believe she was able to purchase her. So that's pretty much breeder goals right there. Making dreams come true with our beautiful horses!

So much 🌧️ in North Otago with flooding and roads closed last week. We are on a hill so luckily no flooding for us but has turned our dry winter into a very wet winter very quickly. Our herd are now on adlib haylage and in sheltered sacrifice paddocks.

Nearly time for second round of weaning for us and for the first time we have a broodmare in foal available for sale. Lovely Sabrina has given us 4 beautiful foals and with one of her fillies in the paddock as a keeper it is time for her to be enjoyed by another family. Even better she is in foal to SP Blue Eyed Ghost, due early Dec for a guaranteed palomino pure warmblood foal. Gorgeous Ghost has only limited availability at stud these days so this is a rare opportunity to get a ghost baby. Please contact us if you think Sabrina could be a fit for your family.
