A short and sweet season for Dickey Stables this season, with wee Eli entering our lives.

We’ve had a bit of a change up to the team, with Mat selling his two top horses. So we are currently working on building up our younger team of horses.

Our small team finished the season well, with Flamenco winning the Pro-Am at Wairarapa with a nice double clear. He then went on to jump a lovely but steady clear in 1.20 - 1.30m speed championship at North Island’s, and placed fourth in the Pro-Am. Tasman and Electra also jumped some good rounds at both shows. The highlight being Tasman winning both of his showhunter starts at Wairarapa.

We are now looking forward to putting in some good winter training in preparation for the 2026/2027 season. 💪

First show as a family of three. We were very lucky to receive a lot of help from family and friends, which made our first show with little Eli a success 🤍

We had a small team of three competing at Takapoto.

Electra competed in the 90cm and 95cm, producing some nice clear rounds and finishing 4th on day two.

Fernando CSNZ competed in the 1.30m and 1.25m, placing second in the 1.25m.

Flamenco jumped in the 1.05m and 1.15m, picking up the win in the 1.15m. It was great to be back in the competition arena after 11 months away from competing!

Fernando CSNZ (Nando) – 17hh, 10-year-old gelding by Cartell GNZ, out of Fanciful CSNZ.

A very cool, scopey horse that competed successfully at Grand Prix level last season. He is honest and fun to ride, and a pleasure to work with.

2024/25 Highlights include:

• 3rd Premiere Stakes Grand Prix at Horse of the Year 2024

Cornet Indiana – 16.1hh 9yo Mare by Cornet Obolensky

Cornet Indiana (Indy) is a super 9-year-old homebred mare by the renowned Cornet Obolensky, out of a well-bred Indoctro x Omnicorp mare (Cherry). She's extremely brave, honest, and talented.

Last season, Indy jumped consistently between 1.30m and 1.40m and stepped up to her first Grand Prix, where she placed 3rd. At Horse of the Year, her most recent show, she placed 3rd in the 1.30m and 2nd in the 1.35m Championship.

She’s consistent, easy to have around, and has loads of potential. Indy would suit a competitive young rider looking for a quality, experienced horse to continue developing with.

8-year-old chestnut mare, approximately 15.3hh
Sire: Quantum
Dam: Let’s Tango (Grand Prix pony)

Sass is an athletic and bold jumper. She has a big stride and makes the distances in combinations and down lines easily. My older sister produced Sass and competed with her up to 1.15m in Northland. She has been with me since November as my sister no longer had time to keep her in work. Sass has only been lightly competed and has far from reached her full potential!

She is very easy-going and quiet at home, becoming more excitable at shows. She would be best suited to a capable rider wanting a quality horse to continue to produce through the grades, particularly for a capable junior or young rider. She has an excellent jumping technique, and floats over fences with her back end.

Sass is very pleasant to be around - she is very affectionate and loves cuddles! She is good to shoe, truck, float, worm, hack out, either alone or in company.

Horse of the Year is always a season highlight. Although this show was a bit quieter for us, with only Mat competing on his two horses, they did not disappoint!

Mat was also placed Second in the Nationwide Cup, for the rider with the most jumping points over the week which was a nice touch to finish our season.
